About damn time? CNN reports, “US authorities have prepared charges to seek the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange,” citing U.S. officials. What took so long? “The Justice Department investigation of Assange and WikiLeaks dates to at least 2010, when the site first gained wide attention,” for publishing U.S. diplomatic cables leaked by then Private Bradley (now Chelsea) Manning. Under Obama, “Attorney General Eric Holder and officials at the Justice Department determined it would be difficult to bring charges against Assange because WikiLeaks wasn’t alone in publishing documents stolen by Manning” which makes much too much sense politically. Evidently, “The US view of WikiLeaks and Assange began to change after investigators found what they believe was proof that WikiLeaks played an active role in helping Edward Snowden,” who many on the left foolishly continue to believe was some sort of conscientious objector, he was not and you have been had if you continue to think that, sorry. The left is often too smug to believe it could happen to anyone but far right yokels but alas, empirical evidence suggests much to the contrary, they are as easily conned. At a news conference Thursday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions called Assange’s arrest a “priority”. Funny because his boss, the puppet president loved WikiLeaks so very much during the election when they were publishing Hillary Clinton’s emails to maximum political effect and damage.

The Independent reports, “Russian bombers have neared the coast of Alaska for a second consecutive night,” on Tuesday. Two Bear Tu-95 aircraft entered the U.S. Air Defense Identification Zone where the North American Aerospace Defense Command or NORAD monitored them. The Independent reports, “Unlike the previous night, fighter jets were not scrambled to intercept them but an E-3 Sentry early warning plane was sent to watch their movements.” U.S. Air Force First Lt. Lauren Hill told The Independent this latest flight was “not out of the ordinary”. The latest report follows reports of a similar incident Monday night where “two F-22 Raptor stealth jets and an E-3 plane were launched to intercept two Russian bombers around 100 miles off Alaska”.

The New York Times reports “Germany’s elite antiterrorism unit has arrested a 28-year-old German-Russian man who is suspected of trying to blow up the Borussia Dortmund bus, with the apparent aim of driving down the price of the club’s stock so he could profit through a speculation scheme,” according to German federal prosecutors. The suspect, identified only as Sergei W., left three notes claiming the attack for ISIS but experts quickly pointed out the fallacies in those letters including inconsistencies with ISIS nomenclature and phraseology that made them appear to be apparent forgeries. According to The New York Times, “Prosecutors said that another letter that was sent to German news organizations, claiming that the attack had been carried out by the far right, had proved to be unfounded. A fifth claim to the attack emerged in the past week, this time suggesting it had been the work of far-left extremists, but prosecutors later said that letter, too, was a hoax.” Is there a deeper connection to Russian state though? Stay tuned…

Yesterday at a Chicago “El” stop TRUMPISTAN WATCH greeted several members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in their customary act of outreach and proselytizing, “You are doing something that is now illegal in Russia so thank you for doing it!” No joke, that happened, such is life now. The New York Times reports on Thursday, the Russian Supreme Court “declared Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian denomination that rejects violence, an extremist organization, banning the group from operating on Russian territory and putting its more than 170,000 Russian worshipers in the same category as Islamic State militants.” To the Christian Russia lovers of America, is this something you find acceptable? To people of all faiths in America, is this something you find acceptable? A lawyer for the Jehovah’s Witnesses said he would appeal the ruling.

Former Trump campaign officials told The Daily Beast that long-time Trump aid Roger Stone “played a pivotal role in getting former campaign chairman Paul Manafort a job as Trump’s campaign manager. Manafort is now under investigation by the FBI but “backs that version of events” in some new documentary about Roger Stone we won’t be spilling ink over here unless there is some Russia connection because yawn and gross to give such scummy people publicity so they can cash in on their notoriety as political prostitutes. Besides, they have each other for this purpose. Stone also disliked Corey Lewandowski. That’s all the gossip in an otherwise plug-y Daily Beast article. Separately Thursday media reports indicated Roger Stone was locked out of his Twitter for threatening Media Matters for America communications director Laura Allison Keifer. Hell of a guy that Roger Stone, which means he will be around for some time because he can further the outrage cycle and agenda, a chief engine driving the media economy.

The Warsaw Voice has a news brief, “Tensions between the President and Minister of Defense” detailing how Polish Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz does not think it his duty to answer correspondence from Polish President Andrzej Duda, correspondence which has now been leaked to the media. Macierewicz serves at the behest of the (mis)governing Law and Justice Party and “A scandal surrounding the various employments of Macierewicz’s protege Bartlomiej Misiewicz” has blown up. According to The Warsaw Voice, “Polish protocol requires official responses to such inquiries,” from the president, “but Macierewicz is apparently flaunting his political untouchability, the daily Rzeczpospolita suggests in an analysis.”

Likely more out of necessity than a desire to keep company with someone with deep and close ties to Hungary’s neo-Nazis, The Forward, a Jewish American newspaper, writes, “White House counterterrorism adviser Sebastian Gorka has scored invitations to speak at upcoming pro-Israeli events.” For instance on May 7, he will address The Jerusalem Post conference in New York. Others slated to speak include defense minister Avigdor Lieberman, justice minister Ayelet Shaket and minister of education Naftali Bennett. What a line up! Maybe he can get together with the education minister and learn him some history? And then maybe the education minister can rinse, wash and repeat with all the ignorant Trump trash! And then we can hang all the dirty laundry out to dry and expose it to a lot of sunlight while simultaneously taking out the trash. Dreams, they are wonderful. You must have dreams.

The BBC reports “Russia’s flagship carrier Aeroflot is fighting a legal battle with several of its female flight attendants who say it favours slim and attractive cabin crew.” On Tuesday a Moscow court rejected the claim of flight attendant Irina Ierusalimskaya. She plans to appeal with the help of her lawyer, a “top Russian human rights and trade union official, Boris Kravchenko,” who is also “a member of President Vladimir Putin’s Council for Human Rights, and chairs the Russian Labour Confederation.” In classic brutish Russian state fashion, “The company argues that every extra kilogram of weight forces Aeroflot to spend more on fuel.” We know how cheap the Russian state is when it comes to those outside the mafia state, which has really just replaced the apparatchiks of yesteryear who horded the best supplies and the nicest things for themselves.

Lessons from the ouster of shameful sex predator Bill O’Reilly, who was also a ratings blockbuster because insecure American men, at Fox News are clear. Let’s run through the five lessons that brought him down and re-apply them where and when we can in the future to remove such blemishes from our culture, shall we? First, Fox waited too long, more than a decade after the infamous falafel allegations (when he meant loofah) and the payouts accumulated. If there is hush money, there is usually something to hush. This was a hook and it hung him. Second, Trump’s support because the president is an accused sex predator too and the allegations in Trump’s case include rape of his then wife. When Trump called O’Reilly a “good person” and said ““I don’t think Bill did anything wrong,” he was doomed ever after. So yes, America has higher standards for television presenters than the president, evidently. Third, as The Washington Post has it, “real news from real outlets, in this case The New York Timesuncovering and reporting the truth, not alternative facts or post-facts, actual f-ing facts. Fourth is the #grabyourwallet boycott effect coupled with extremely negative, well directed publicity because “Fortune 500 businesses of the type that pulled their advertising from O’Reilly’s show, contrary to popular myth, are not bastions of racism, sexism and right-wing thuggery. They want to be seen as environmentally responsible, tolerant and modern,” even if they have to be shamed into finding their tolerance and modernity, no matter. Lastly, O’Reilly became a “business risk” as a result of the negatives outlined in one through four. Remember this and if it could only have happened sooner, before Trump made his “we have a lot of killers here” comments to O’Reilly the nation would be a better place today.
