FULL TRUMPISTAN: TRUMP’S ONLY MEETING TODAY IS WITH LAVROV

Reuters reports, “U.S. President Donald Trump will meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the White House on Wednesday to discuss Syria and a wide range of international issues, a senior U.S. official said.” Yeah and maybe Lavrov gets to check up on the occupation government and funnel some more cash its way maybe. In any event, the timing and the fact of the matter is this is full Trumpistan because as we will get to in a New York minute and dwell on for the years Washington scandals last, Trump fired the Director of the FBI James Comey yesterday! Of course this is “the highest-level contact between Trump and the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin since Trump took office on Jan. 20.” The Russians should not be rewarded in this way, with an uneven meeting in the White House. Trump is the goddamn president in theory, Lavrov merely the foreign minister. This is like a bad graduate level crisis simulation for the moment, almost so implausibly absurd that even a despot of a banana republic might offer up a critique about appearances. POLITICO reports Lavrov will also meet with his secret love T Rex.

—–BREAKING—–

TRUMP FIRES COMEY

Around 6pm EST Tuesday, news broke that Trump had fired FBI Director James Comey. The New York Times cites the letter Trump sent Comey dated Tuesday, “While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the bureau”. The New York Times reports, “Officials at the F.B.I. said they were not immediately aware of Mr. Comey’s dismissal,” given that Trump tends to do things with no class, not surprising. White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Comey had been “terminated and removed from office,” as the White House released a separate letter on the matter. According to POLITICO, “Trump received letters from Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, and Jeff Sessions, the attorney general, calling for Comey’s dismissal, on Tuesday,” so both need to either be hauled before Congress or fired or both, especially Sessions. Do you not see the paper trail! Oh my god they knew to create a paper trail, they have learned from the first ten days of state terror! We’ve come so far from those halcyon early days of America’s great experiment in Russian occupation, military rule, and racist authoritarianism when Trump was alleged to have blown Comey a kiss on camera (sure looks like he did). As if you did not know this was coming, go back and revisit now his bizarre CIA rant the day after he took office. POLITICO reports Trump debated the decision “for more than a week.” According to POLITICO, “The news stunned Comey, who saw his dismissal on TV while speaking inside the FBI office in Los Angeles.”  CNN reports Trump dispatched his long time enforcer who has moved from director of security for the Trump Organization to the White House and given a fancy title along the way, Keith Schiller, to deliver the news to Comey. Hallmark of the pure class we have come to expect from the Trump traitor trash. Or a banana republic. Also it’s the third person investigating Trump that he’s fired, the previous two of course being Sally Yates and Preet Bharara. In Trump’s pea brain of total denial, “Trump had grown angry with the Russia investigation — particularly Comey admitting in front of the Senate that the FBI was investigating his campaign — and that the FBI director wouldn’t support his claims that President Barack Obama had tapped his phones in Trump Tower.”

TW’S ANALYSIS: POURING GASOLINE ON THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY

Trump fired the FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday. Besides the obvious this is bad politically and whiffs with echoes of the Watergate cover up, TRUMPISTAN WATCH insists this is much bigger than Watergate as it concerns a foreign adversary and active interference. This is what a coup is. Trump’s decision to fire Comey now veers our national emergency into a full-blown crisis in which even sleeping Americans must acknowledge something is awry here. And yet, this is not the Armageddon scenario that comes if Trump fires National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster. Since the beginning, in the days immediately following the November 9 coup (recall this is also the day in 1989 when the Berlin Wall came tumbling down), TRUMPISTAN WATCH has been of a few opinions and they have held up as have other predictions that the shock value is perhaps much less than it is for others. First, Trump will not survive the tenure of his term on national security grounds. Second, Russia was deeply involved in the election of Donald Trump. Third, this could lead to the nation’s first military coup in all but name only. Fourth, the U.S. will not collapse by itself, if it does Russia will too; if Trump falls, the Russian people will want whatever the Americans have. Now, with the firing of Comey, TRUMPISTAN WATCH is miserable enough about the situation to find the humor. If you cannot find the humor in the horror, you are not nearly miserable enough yet about the situation. Remember when you get there to ask yourself what the military coup in all but name might be called. TRUMPISTAN WATCH would place a bet on “peaceful transition to ensure democratic continuity”. In any case, if you are clinging to some misguided belief that Trump has no ties to Russia, that this is all no big deal, the last 48 hours should give you pause and reverse course. The grounds for optimism is a rotting, flaming, ash cloaked carcass, the detritus of a republic, for now.

COMEY HAD SOUGHT TO CLARIFY TESTIMONY ON ABEDIN/WEINER + EMAILS

Within the hour before news broke Comey was fired, POLITICO shot off a breaking news alert that Comey “ is cleaning up testimony he gave to a Senate panel suggesting that former Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin forwarded thousands of potentially sensitive emails to her husband, former Rep. Anthony Weiner.” Earlier in the day, The Washington Post has followed up ProPublica reporting to call the testimony “botched”. POLITICO reports, “the bulk of the transfer of data Comey mentioned ‘occurred as a result of a backup of personal electronic devices, with a small number a result of manual forwarding by Ms. Abedin to Mr. Weiner.’” He walked back a claim that “Abedin had a ‘regular practice’ of forwarding messages to Weiner for him to print out.” Abedin “manually forwarded” two email chains with classified information. It seems this will certainly come up again as the official White House reason for firing Comey was his handling of the investigation in Hillary Clinton’s emails (yeah, right that’s the reason in reality). “At the hearing, Comey came under fire from Democrats for his disclosures about the Clinton email investigation. That criticism flared up again Tuesday as it emerged that the FBI chief had misstated some facts about the episode that led to the probe being reopened just before last fall’s election,” which seems to have given Trump the political cover he and his advisors thought necessary to fire Comey. The Washington Post reminds us, “Just last week, Trump publicly accused Comey of giving Clinton ‘a free pass for many bad deeds’ when he decided not to recommend criminal charges in the case.” So much unknown about all of this now! Maybe 50 years after we are dead the truth of everything will be revealed.

PRESSURE GROWS TO KNOW MORE ABOUT TRUMP’S BUSINESS WITH RUSSIA

CNN reports, “South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said Tuesday he wants to explore whether there were any ties between President Donald Trump’s businesses and Russia — adding that the President’s tax returns could be helpful to such an inquiry.” Separately CNN reported, “Senate Russia investigators have sent a request to the Treasury Department’s criminal investigation division for any information related to President Donald Trump, his top officials and his campaign aides,” citing Senator Mark Warner. Yesterday Graham told CNN, “I want to know more about Trump’s business dealings.” He added the caveat though that his work could not interfere with the FBI’s. We all know now Comey has been fired. CBS News reports, “The White House says President Trump is sending a certified letter to Sen. Lindsey Graham attesting that the president has no connections to Russia.” Furthering the cover up won’t make the story or the investigation go away.

SCHUMER CALLS FOR INDEPENDENT PROSECUTOR

POLITICO reports Trump called Schumer in the hour before he fired Comey, expecting to find an ally across the aisle given how under fire Comey has come from Democrats for his letter to Congress reopening the investigation into Hillary’s e-mails the week before the election-turned-coup. According to POLITICO, “Instead, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told him he was making a big mistake — and Trump seemed ‘taken aback,’ according to a person familiar with the call.” POLITICO reports their chat was followed by Schumer ratcheting up “calls for a special prosecutor to investigate the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia”.

FULL CRISIS: “KNIVES ARE OUT” FOR NATSEC ADVISOR H.R. MCMASTER
Now here is your crisis scenario! If Comey is the #2 or #3 scalp Trump could fire, his National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster who was brought in to steady the ship after Michael Flynn was fired, is #1. Foreign Policy reports, “Inside the White House, opponents of Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, President Donald Trump’s second national security advisor, want him out.” Foreign Policy is pretty clear, “This week, they’ve made their campaign against him public, leaking to reporters details about the rocky relationship he has with his boss and trying to paint him as someone hellbent on overseas nation-building projects that are doomed to fail. The timing isn’t accidental.” Patient Zero on the attack in this case is Mike Cernovich of pizza-gate fame who also helped spread attacks on Obama’s National Security Advisor Susan Rice. Cernovich launched into McMaster starting Sunday. One senior intelligence official put it this way: “He isn’t family. He’s not a Bannon guy, and he’s still surrounded by Flynnstones.” Sounds about right. Bannon is likely the source of the swords because gross, no one doubts that guy is not a patriot.

ESTONIA CONVICTS GRU AGENT

IHS Jane’s 360 reports, “Artem Zinchenko, a Russian citizen legally resident in Estonia since 2013, was convicted on 8 May of espionage for Russia’s GRU military intelligence organization.” He was “Recruited in 2009 and arrested in January 2017” and “sentenced to five years for spying on locations, equipment, and manoeuvres of Estonian and NATO forces and critical infrastructure.”

WHITES ONLY HAUS INC. SCHEDULE + GUEST LIST IN ABSENCE OF ONE

POLITICO did a very smart thing and has sought to keep track of who our great, really, really so very great leader is meeting with and where. They have an email for tipsters too. It’s like we are suddenly moving passed the era of clickbait, which is what came before every news organization took to selling us “Truth,” if we subscribe.

NSA WATCHED RUSSIA HACK FRENCH PRESIDENT ELECT MACRON

The AP reports, “The United States watched Russians hack France’s computer networks during the election and tipped off French officials before it became public,” National Security Agency (NSA) Director Admiral Mike Rogers told the Senate Armed Services committee. The AP quotes Rogers, “We had become aware of Russian activity. We had talked to our French counterparts and gave them a heads-ups — ‘Look, we’re watching the Russians. We’re seeing them penetrate some of your infrastructure. Here’s what we’ve seen. What can we do to try to assist?’” France’s cybersecurity agency, known by its French acronym ANSII, would not comment. The rhetoric has been ratcheted up as Rogers told the committee there must be a “price to pay”.

CONDI MAKES THE ROUNDS FOR TRUMP RUSSIA TIES

Former National Security Advisor and Secretary of State under George W. Bush Condoleezza Rice has been making the rounds in the media this week, kicking off last Sunday on CBS News “Face the Nation,” with John Dickerson (recall this is who Trump insulted the week before leading to a torrent of insults from comedian Stephen Colbert who said Trump’s lips were only good as “Putin’s cock holster”). On “The View” Condoleeza told the hosts, “I think it was personal. He likes to intimidate,” Rice said of his possible reasons for interfering. She called him “an eye-for-an-eye kind of person.” She also “urged Americans not to be rattled by Putin’s actions.”
