The Washington Post reports, “President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said that Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.” Trump shared intelligence with the two Sergeys that “had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government”. So bad was the over share, that Trump lackeys even knew it was bad and decided to cover their asses as The Washington Post reports, “After Trump’s meeting, a senior White House official,” Thomas Bossert, an assistant to president for homeland security and counterterrorism, “took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and National Security Agency”. Evidently Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies,” because the sorry excuse for an illegitimate president is perhaps still under the misguided impression that the Russians are his friend, perhaps $95 million (at least) “friends”. BBC World Service reported a short while ago that the Israeli press claims Jordan was the source. Unlike most government employees who would be put through the ringer for such disclosures, the American system was built with the mistaken notion that the president would somehow exercise good judgment so he (never been a she) “has broad authority to declassify government secrets, making it unlikely that his disclosures broke the law.” Of course Trump insists its his “right” to share intelligence with his masters, CNN reports, which probably will not help the investigations into his ties with Russia go away.  Neither the CIA nor the NSA responded to The Washington Post’s request for comment. National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster gave a very brief statement outside the White House denying something slightly different from what was reported, namely that sources and methods were not shared (CNN has video). Both McMaster and The Washington Post appear to be playing word games with each other and McMaster appears to be running counter-interference on the Russian interference. Sorry, he is the best hope we have, so hold on tight! Russian Friendship medal recipient and U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also denied the reports, leaving the State Department in the dark before he did so. But we should be troubled by a similar report in Russian state-run Pravda where the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also calls the report “fake news”.

Legendary constitutional law professor Lawrence Tribe of Harvard University (who counts among his former students House intelligence committee co-chair Rep. Adam Schiff) writes in The Washington Post, “The time has come for Congress to launch an impeachment investigation of President Trump for obstruction of justice.” Giddyup, giddyup! Tribe notes, “The remedy of impeachment was designed to create a last-resort mechanism for preserving our constitutional system.” Yes, four months into Dr. Strangelove in real life, time to carpe diem and get the orange lunatic out of office. Tribe reminds us the purpose of impeachment is to remove “executive-branch officials who have so abused power through what the framers called ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’” that they are incapable of remaining in office and upholding the values of the republic. Tribe accurately notes, “The country is faced with a president whose conduct strongly suggests that he poses a danger to our system of government.” He adds, “To wait for the results of the multiple investigations underway is to risk tying our nation’s fate to the whims of an authoritarian leader.” Indeed the clock is ticking and 2018 or beyond is already too late.

Whenever the rights of a certain minority group in Russia arises, the standard cynical response of many Russians is why should we care about their rights when no one has rights in Russia? Well degrees, my friends. Alexey Navalny was fined 20,000 rubles (about $350) for organizing “an unauthorized rally” in downtown Moscow on March 26. It’s pretty pathetic that sad little man Putin is this scared of the voices of his own people on the streets that he has to resort to all manner of punitive reactions.

The Real Deal, a publication focusing on New York real estate, reports, “New York state’s attorney general and Manhattan’s district attorney have reportedly opened investigations into former Donald Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort’s real estate deals.” About damn time given how much blood is on his hands and how much money he has in the bank, or as his daughter’s leaked texts referred to it combining the two, “blood money”. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. are reportedly in the early stages of investigating. Citing the Wall Street Journal, The Real Deal notes, “Schneiderman’s office is likely focusing on whether any of the deals were used for money laundering, while Vance is most likely looking into whether there was any fraud committed”. Of course Manafort’s spokesman fired back that leaks of ongoing investigations are a crime because that is barely working as an excuse for all the Trumpkins, especially as Trump leaks info to the Russians, according to The Washington Post. Stick to Hillary’s emails, more effective dodge!

The Hill reports Trey “Benghazi” Gowdy said he is out of the running Monday to takeover James Comey’s old job as FBI Director. Benghazi Gowdy released a statement, thanking boy Jeff Sessions, i.e. private Russia sessions, the Attorney General for considering him for the post. For sure TRUMPISTAN WATCH thought Gowdy was the political lackey and one-dimensional type Trump was seeking for the job but the search for the right person to go after Hillary Clinton and close the Russia case continues! Now if you are going to place a bet, place one on the Justice Department opening an investigation into Hillary. There is good money to be made being on the wrong side of history!

Reuters reports, “A majority of Americans, including a growing number of Republicans, want to see an ‘independent investigation’ sort out any connections between Russia and President Donald Trump during the 2016 election campaign,” because firing Comey alone would not do the trick. Memo to future authoritarians: you must break everything at once! Dissolve the FBI, the courts, destroy democracy in one thrust! TRUMPISTAN WATCH does not think you can do that in our system, so nevermind! The Reuters/Ipsos poll released Monday reveals, “59 percent of adults, including 41 percent of Republicans and 79 percent of Democrats, agreed that ‘Congress should launch an independent investigation into communications between the Russian government and the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.’” John Kremer, a 74-year old Trumper from good ol’ Birmingham, Alabama, site of so much of the civil rights struggles (we can probably guess Kremer’s race), said, “I really don’t know what to believe anymore”. Hint: not Trump, or the raging racist paternalism he represents! Kremer, who seems to be a sui generis Southern boomer, would like to see an independent investigation, probably on the foolhardy assumption that it will vindicate the orange lunatic. Kremer told Reuters he does not think Trump is guilty of collusion, but does not like the way he is handling the issue either. Oh man, are some of the American people dense. Trump’s lies have also degraded Congress not just the executive branch as “Thirty-six percent of Americans said they had ‘hardly any confidence at all’ in the executive branch and 43 percent said they felt that way about Congress.”

CNN reports, “Russia’s reputation as a cyber-savvy nation that churns out computing experts has been undermined by this weekend’s WannaCry ransomware attack. It’s pretty ironic given all the havoc they have unleashed using cyber attacks and trolls that their cyber defenses are so weak. According to CNN, “Experts said that Russia is particularly vulnerable to this kind of attack because of its aging computing infrastructure and lax approach to cybersecurity. There is also a huge amount of pirated software in circulation.” See Russia is not so big and strong as it pretends to be; it’s actually pretty weak and vulnerable, just like its leader.

Newsweek reports new details on the Russian military exercise Zapad scheduled for later this year. Newsweek writes, “During the drill, Zapad (West) 2017, Belarus and Russia’ will practice their joint abilities in combat at their western borders, which span much of NATO’s eastern flank. For Russia, Zapad is [sic] defensive drill targeting a hypothetical threat in its west. Belarus’s Minister of Defense Andrey Ravkov has said the drill, due to take place in September, will not consist of more than 13,000 people—the Cold War limit for a drill that can go ahead without international inspection”. However during the last Zapad exercise four years ago, the Russians said only 10,000 had taken part but Western media report seven times that number. Baltic allies are understandably alarmed. Lithuania’s Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis said, “The main problem today is the fact that these military exercises really are massive, but their transparency is really weak,” adding, “To put it mildly, it is unpleasant to simulate attacks against so-called high-potential countries, and this is the NATO alliance.”

CNN reports Trump’s poll numbers are so damn low that they “show him in truly dangerous territoryflirting with dipping under 40% approval just 115 days into his presidency.” Great! A new Gallup poll released Monday shows 38% approve of the hit job Trump is doing on our nation. And a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll is only ever slightly more generous giving him a 39% approval rating. The Quinnipac poll shows 36% approve of him. Still much to high, bring it on down! Beautifully, “Trump’s current poll standing is similar to where George W. Bush was in October 2005, following the botched handling of Hurricane Katrina”. Well, he is basically doing to the black community and other minorities, women in slow motion what it took an act of god to do to a U.S. city. CNN gets in on the trolling stating, “In the 114-117 days of their respective presidencies, Obama was at 64% approval, Bush stood at 56% and Bill Clinton was at 45%. Trump, to reiterate, is at 38%.” Now here is why this counts, in the words of Gallup’s Jeffrey Jones: “Since 1946, when presidents are above 50% approval, their party loses an average of 14 seats in the U.S. House in the midterm elections, compared with an average loss of 36 seats when presidents are below that mark.” CNN reminds us, “Democrats need to net 24 seats to re-take control of the US House.” Take back the House! Whose house? Our house! If you want to see the media troll a sitting president with panache, read this story and troll, baby, troll!

POLITICO reports, “A Russian aluminum magnate with ties to President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, is suing The Associated Press for libel over its reporting on the pair’s relationship.” The suit was filed in Washington and claims “that the CEO of the Russian firm United Company RUSAL was defamed” by a March story which reported about business dealings between Deripaska and Manafort. As far as TRUMPISTAN WATCH is aware, this is the second suit brought by Russians against American media. They must not know how our courts work and think they are like Russia. In America, you have to show malice, prove the allegations are not true, show that the publication did not hedge but outright implied wrongdoing. The threshold is pretty damn high, especially if you are in the public eye and considered fair game. Our publications are pretty careful, some might argue too much so. Lastly, such suits tend to call attention to reports those suing wish to brush under the rug and creates a definite paper trail publicly available in the U.S. courts. According to POLITICO, “The suit alleges that the AP report was libelous because it falsely implied that Deripaska was paying Manafort for work aimed at advancing the goals of the Russian government and Russian president Vladimir Putin. The suit also says the article created a false impression that Deripaska’s dealings with Manafort were intertwined with the Trump campaign when that work ended by 2009 and that Deripaska is tied to ongoing investigations of alleged theft of assets from Ukraine after the ouster of President Viktor Yanukovych in 2014.”

Newsweek reports, “Russia’s state broadcaster has cut a line from U.S. TV series Fargo that likened President Vladimir Putin to the ‘brutal’ North Korean regime, according to an independent Russian news site.” Riga-based Russian language opposition outlet Meduza reported on a tip from a viewer that on Saturday’s broadcast of the series “a Russian viewer alerted Meduza to a moment near the end of the episode when Perviy Kanal seemed to fumble in translating a line near the end of the episode.” According to Newsweek, “In the original, David Thewlis’s character said, ‘Yes, you can still find some relative stability in the brutal nation states: North Korea; Putinʼs done some great things with Russia. You just have to know which palms to grease,’ after lamenting the lack of serenity in the world outside Minnesota state.” By contrast, Russian viewers watching state broadcaster Perviy Kanal were treated to the revision, “Relative stability exists only in totalitarian states. In North Korea, for example, where you just need to know whose palm to grease”. LOL so unlike Putin’s Russia, which is all about finding a roof for your activities in the mafia state. Meduza also reported according to Newsweek, “two episodes later, in the fourth instalment [sic] of season three, Perviy Kanal also omitted mentions of Putin—this time from a monologue of a Ukrainian character about the president’s past in the security services.” In that instance, Putin was removed and made into a generic boy with dreams of growing up in the security service and lying his ass off. Also so unlike Putin! After Meduza ran the story “Other Russian media picked up on the story and sought an answer as to why state TV changed Fargo’s dialogue,” because everyone knows how much the Russian mafia state loves being held accountable in every way to independent oversight. That is enough to get one, definitely not Putin, killed.

BuzzFeed reports, “Photos of a large light projection were shared online late Monday night showing protest messages sprawled across the front of the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC”. If you have the means and the know how, do this at all his properties, including the giant phallus desecrating the riverfront and the walk up north Wabash Street in Chicago, please! Robin Bell, the social justice artist behind this genius told BuzzFeed that the work of staggering brilliance lasted about 10 minutes before “security” (read: Trump trash thugs) came up and blocked the projector. Other messages included “Emoluments welcome” with an “Open 24 hour” motel-style sign and “Another photo showed the text of the Emoluments Clause”. BuzzFeed reports, “Bell said he chose to show flags in his projection of ‘the countries we know for sure are paying Trump money.’ A video taken by Bell and his team shows flags for Turkey, China, Saudi Arabia, and Russia waving in the installation.” What fun! Come to Chicago, Robin, we welcome you to our city! Robin Bell, American patriot and hero.
