Reuters reports, “Ribbon-cutting, jets overhead and a dinner in a new, billion-dollar headquarters: Donald Trump’s first meeting at NATO on Thursday is choreographed to impress a U.S. president who called the Western alliance ‘obsolete’,” who also happens to appreciate the sort of fanfare third world dictators enjoy. More importantly, it is also a sign to Russia, delivered via proxy Trump, that come what may, NATO is ready, and at the present moment, that includes manipulating a Russian-backed electoral coup in the U.S. to its advantage. Unfortunately one NATO diplomat told Reuters an untruth, namely, “This is the moment to remind Trump that he’s the leader of the free world,” because that role is now occupied by German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Reuters notes however that “Expectations have been set low,” because Trump is a Russian puppet and any one with a brain anticipates and believes he will be removed somehow from office because he is wholly unfit to govern. Baltic countries meanwhile “seek a public commitment from Trump to stand by NATO’s Article V defense cause [sic] that states that an attack on one ally is an attack on all”. Of course, “Trump’s ‘America First’ rhetoric, his conflicting signals on Russia and his shifts on NATO have left European governments at a loss,” because they know that it is not America, but Russia the deranged lunatic squatting in the White House bolsters most of all. Concurrently with the NATO summit, Obama appeared in Berlin beside a very happy looking German Chancellor Angela Merkel (certainly compared to a recent summit where she sat on stage with Aryan princess Ivanka, who spouted nonsense drivel about all her pussy-grabbing Daddy has done for women). The two were reunited in front of the Brandenburg Gate during Kirchentag, “a multi-day meeting sponsored by the Protestant church in Germany,” POLITICO reports. Seated where another former U.S. President Ronald Reagan once stood to deliver his, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” speech, Obama said, “We can’t hide behind a wall.”

The New York Times reports, “American spies collected information last summer revealing that senior Russian intelligence and political officials were discussing how to exert influence over Donald J. Trump through his advisors,” which should surprise none of TRUMPISTAN WATCH’s readers but that does not mean you should lose your capacity for shock and be angry! Citing current and former officials, The New York Times reports the further non-surprise that, “The conversations focused on Paul Manafort, the Trump campaign chairman at the time, and Michael T. Flynn, a retired general who was advising Mr. Trump,” because obviously. Further non-shockers include, “Some Russians boasted about how well they knew Mr. Flynn. Others discussed leveraging their ties to Viktor F. Yanukovych,” the deposed president of Ukraine who fled to Russia in disgrace after murdering 100 Ukrainian protesters, and leaving his palace of corruption that included ostriches behind, as well as a trove of documents which included a handwritten ledger documenting illegal payments made to Manafort. Later, Yanukovych said he always supported the ostriches. The intelligence uncovered by the U.S., “included information about direct communications between Mr. Trump’s advisers and Russian officials”. This is going to end so bad for the traitor trash squatting in the White House and TRUMPISTAN WATCH is so excited about that! This will also end as well for the Russians as Maidan did. We might lose people, but Russia will lose everything.

POLITICO reports this morning, “Months after the FBI began examining Paul Manafort as part of a probe into ties between President Donald Trump’s team and Russia, Manafort called Trump’s chief of staff Reince Priebus to push back against the mounting controversy,” citing several people knowledgeable about the call. According to POLITICO, Manafort called “about a week before Trump’s inauguration,” in order “to brief Trump’s team on the alleged inaccuracies in a recently released dossier,” known as the Steele dossier, as it was authored by a former British spy with MI6, Christopher Steele. The calls suggest, “Manafort recognized months ago the potentially serious problems posed by the investigation”. According to POLITICO, “Manafort discussed with other Trump allies the possibility of launching a countervailing investigation into efforts by Ukrainian government officials, who allegedly worked in conjunction with allies of Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton”. In doing so, “Manafort saw such an investigation as a way to distract attention from the parallel FBI and congressional Russia probes.” While “There’s no evidence that Trump’s team considered an investigation into Ukrainian meddling, or acted on Manafort’s recommendations”. Ironically enough around this time, there was one hit job that appeared in the U.S. press in POLITICO, “Ukraine Efforts to Sabotage Trump Backfire,” which tells you more than a little something about POLITICO as a news operation, always ready to flood the zone with whatever flows its way.

The Washington Post has a powerful and confusing story about the effects of Russian disinformation on the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server. “In the midst of the 2016 presidential primary season, the FBI received a purported Russian intelligence document describing a tacit understanding between the campaign of Hillary Clinton and the Justice Department over the inquiry into whether she intentionally revealed classified information through her use of a private email server,” The Washington Post reports. According to this bit of disinformation the Russians appear to have planted, “The Russian document mentioned a supposed email describing how then-Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch had privately assured someone in the Clinton campaign that the email investigation would not push too deeply”. Evidently this “document played a significant role in the July decision by then-FBI Director James B. Comey to announce on his own, without Justice Department involvement, that the investigation was over,” where “he criticized Clinton and made extensive comments about the evidence”. One big problem: “according to the FBI’s own assessment, the document was bad intelligence — and according to people familiar with its contents, possibly even a fake sent to confuse the bureau.” Further problems: “The Americans mentioned in the Russian document insist they do not know each other, do not speak to each other and never had any conversations remotely like the ones described in the document.” According to The Washington Post, “The document, obtained by the FBI, was a piece of purported analysis by Russian intelligence, the people said. It referred to an email supposedly written by the then-chair of the Democratic National Committee, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schulz (D-Fla.), and sent to Leonard Benardo, an official with the Open Society Foundations,” which sounds like the sort of bullshit peddled by both Russia and faux news Fox News. The Open Society Foundations is George Soros’s organization to promote everything Russia hates, namely an open society with free and democratic values and everything that once upon a time was supported by Reagan Republicans who have since converted to Russia Party Republicans, with the lonely exceptions of Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham. The document was received from a source in March 2016 and confused the bureau, which seems to have lost touch with Russian aims and ambitions since the Cold War was “won” and the end of history declared. Citizens, if you find the information picture confusing, this is proof you are not alone. As TRUMPISTAN WATCH has said before and will say again, if only all of America had a Baltic parent we would not be in this predicament, now would we? Well ditto goes for those citizens working for the Federal Bureau of Investigations now.

POLITICO reports, “The House will join the Senate in slapping subpoenas on Michael Flynn, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee,” Rep. Adam Schiff said Wednesday. While Flynn’s lawyer Robert “Kelner said Monday that Flynn would invoke his Fifth Amendments rights against self-incrimination,” this was met with “two new subpoenas aimed at Flynn’s businesses, which [Senate intelligence] committee leaders said they believe are not protected under the Fifth Amendment.” Flynn is going to run mighty fast through all that dirty money he made in Russia and Turkey on his legal bills. Hope there is more hiding off shore somewhere because otherwise, it is just sad how cheap he went for.

CNN reports, “Attorney General Jeff Sessions did not disclose meetings he had last year with Russian officials when he applied for his security clearance,” just like princeling Jared! This law breaking, racist, traitor trash is supposed to be our nation’s highest law enforcement official?! A lawless country then, just like Russia – hey just like the country that is running this administration! Must be a witch hunt! Officials told CNN Private Russian “Sessions, who met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak at least two times last year, didn’t note those interactions on the form, which requires him to list ‘any contact’ he or his family had with a ‘foreign government’ or its ‘representatives’ over the past seven years”. He has already allegedly recused himself from the Russia investigations, but do not be surprised if he is sneaking a peak at the intelligence and investigation, just like fellow traitor trash garbage Rep. Devin “Darkness at” Nunes and passing stuff to his Russian handlers, because if you lie to our national security apparatus and our nation once, what is stopping one from doing so again? Get him out of here! TRUMPISTAN WATCH is calling for a total and complete shutdown on all racist Russian traitor trash going into and out of the country until we figure out what the hell is going on!

The Washington Post has video of U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson acting like it! Normally TRUMPISTAN WATCH always includes as his first formal title “Russian Order of Friendship medal recipient,” but for once he behaves in his role, taking questions from journalists, American journalists, and responding to a question about the future of Russia’s role in the G7, which as the reporter points out, “used to be the G8.” In the brief video clip, Tillerson responds to the question by stating that Russia’s status in the G7 will not be restored until Ukrainian sovereignty is restored “in a way that is satisfactory to the Ukrainians and the members of the G7.” Now was that so hard, T Rex?

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports, “Uzbek-born tycoon Alisher Usmanov issued his second YouTube attack on Aleksei Navalny in a week,” yesterday, a sign that the escalating war of words between a Kremlin proxy and the opposition leader has shaken the Kremlin to its very core. In this new video, Usmanov “likened Navalny to one of the most unlikable figures in Russian literature: Poligraf Sharikov, the loutish dog-turned-man in Mikhail Bulgakov’s 1925 novel Heart Of A Dog.” This makes me doubly sad, first for Russians who clearly deserve better, then for my own country, which clearly does not read as much as Russians that we were satisfied with crude chants like “lock her up!” led by Kremlin proxy Michael Flynn, 140 character outbursts from the orange turd, and of course, e-mails. But alas, before we get enamored with the literary illusions and insults of Kremlin proxies in Russia, let’s recall how not clever they are, as The Guardian reports this second video was called, “I Spit On You, Again”. Not very clever, indeed! Remember, Russia is big and great and can be destroyed by critical and politically engaged youth, just like a real superpower. Yeah, right.

Montana Congressional candidate Greg Gianforte body slammed a Guardian reporter, Ben Jacobs, whose work was previously cited in the May 1 edition of TRUMPISTAN WATCH. As Jacobs had reported earlier this month, Gianfortehas financial ties to a number of Russian companies that have been sanctioned by the US,” noting the tech millionaire, “owns almost $150,000 worth of shares in VanEck Vectors Russia ETF and $92,400 in the IShares MSCF Russia ETF fund. Both are indexed to the Russian equities market and have significant holdings in companies such as Gazprom and Rosneft that came under US sanctions in the aftermath of the Russian invasion of the Crimea.” Well yesterday reporters for Fox News observed Gianforte assault Jacobs. The entire altercation came after Jacobs tried to ask Gianforte a question not related to his Russian investments. The Fox News team posted a first person account of what they observed yesterday in Montana as well as video. Gianforte was charged with assault after body slamming, punching and breaking Jacobs’ glasses. Three major local papers withdrew their endorsements on the eve of today’s special election. Now let’s see if it matters to voters who last year rallied around Trump’s attacks against a free press, who labeled journalists various things including “enemies of the American people”. Words matter. So does violence. Now it’s up to the voters.

ABC News reports, the former foreign policy advisor Carter Page who rose from obscurity to a public face of the Trump campaign last year “will testify before the House Intelligence Committee on June 6 as part of its investigation of Russia’s attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.” He must be very excited! As a total Russia-linked nutter, this is his most time in the limelight since his New Economic School speech last summer. Recall, Page also represents the critical pivot in American society from everyone getting 15 minutes of fame to being hate-watched for 15 minutes, albeit his 15 minutes in both categories expired long ago. Evidently the loon also sent “a May 23 letter addressed to Reps. L. Michael Conway and Adam Schiff, the ranking members” of the House intelligence committee outlining “his objections to former CIA Director John Brennan’s testimony Tuesday that Russia ‘brazenly interfered’ in the election.” Isn’t that special? According to ABC News, Page “dismissed Brennan’s claims as ‘false Russia conspiracy theories’ and provided a five-page appendix, complete with footnotes, detailing a point-by-point protest.” That is very nice and special (instructions for caretaker: pat his head, put a few calming pills in a small cup, give him water to wash them down with). When he ends up in a straight jacket in a room with padded walls, he will even more time to discuss his theories, but first, the reality freak show goes to Capitol Hill in an act of legitimization this sad, deranged man does not really deserve.

Nate Silver’s Five Thirty Eight reports, “Trump’s base seems to be eroding. There’s been a considerable decline in the number of Americans who strongly approve of Trump, from a peak of around 30 percent in February to just 21 or 22 percent of the electorate now.” Great! Contrary to all the hagiographic media portraits that seem to be fading as well, and the Russian sourced disinformation we have been treated to in recent years, “Far from having unconditional love from his base, Trump has already lost almost a third of his strong support. And voters who strongly disapprove of Trump outnumber those who strongly approve of him by about a 2-to-1 ratio.” We are closing in on single digits soon! Hope the Russians have a dacha prepared for the orange turd in Rostov-on-Don, perhaps beside the deposed Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych because otherwise we might just lock him up! Lock him up! And if we throw away the key or put him in an Eichmann-style glass box for a trial and public humiliation before the international media first, TRUMPISTAN WATCH will not shed a tear, even as Trump proclaims he would never hurt a fly.

The Hill reports, “Former Secretary of State John Kerry plans to give graduates at Harvard Kennedy School a piece of advice at their commencement Wednesday: Learn Russian.” Horrible advice at this moment! Why is this terrible? It gives Russia what it wants, namely respect and a seat at the table and we must be strong and resolute in our absolute mockery of Russia’s superpower ambitions so long as it represses its citizens and has an economy with a GDP the size of Italy. Do not learn Russian, read about Russia and learn Polish or Ukrainian, languages of resistance. You can fake enough Russian as you go with either language. Furthering his bad advice for this moment, Kerry adds, “I used to say, either run for office or get a degree from Harvard Kennedy School. With this White House I’d say, buy Rosetta Stone and learn Russian,” because Rosetta Stone is not really a way to learn a language beyond acclimating to hearing the sounds of one at the A1 level. The Hill reports, “During the speech, Kerry is expected to say that democracy relies on free speech and on ‘speech being truthful.’” So, let’s be truthful about Russia for a moment as they hate that, shall we? Russia is big and great and can be destroyed by its citizens being politically engaged, just like a real superpower! Yeah, right. Kids, learn Polish, learn a Baltic language, learn Ukrainian and read so you know history! TRUMPISTAN WATCH proposes a reading list (endorsed by Anne Applebaum!) that is more relevant than Cyrillic mental slavery. And spend some time in Eastern Europe talking to people of all ages and learn about what Russian occupation is really like and how much better peoples’ lives in freedom really are. No more years long waits for Ladas! Meat at the grocery! No getting up before dawn to procure just a sliver of it!

Al-Monitor reports, “On May 18, the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Duma — Russia’s lower house of parliament — confirmed the nomination of Deputy Foreign Minister Anatoly Antonov,” whose candidacy is supported by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The 62-year old Antonov “graduated in 1978 from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, where he majored in international economic relations.” According to Al-Monitor, Antonov “led the ministry’s Department of Security and Disarmament for seven years (2004-2011) and headed Russian delegations to numerous security conferences, including ones on nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. He also led negotiations with the United States on missile defense, strategic arms and export control.” Following 30 years in the Foreign Ministry, Putin reassigned him to the Defense Ministry in 2011 where Antonov “was responsible primarily for Russian military cooperation and military-technical dealings with other nations,” especially in Syria. So the new Russian Ambassador to the U.S. will arrive with the blood of more than 100,000 innocent Syrians on his hands, which should surprise no one given that if the Russians want their America operation to succeed now they will literally have to slaughter tens of millions of dissenting Americans. Al-Monitor notes, Antonov’s “official appointment is anticipated in July following an expected meeting between Putin and Trump in Hamburg at the G-20 summit of leading and developing nations.” Welcome Ambassador Antonov, you will not do to us what you helped do to Syria!

Shhhh, the market is speaking! The almighty invisible hand of capitalism in the form of organized mass boycotts against Sean Hannity’s advertisers has begun! After Hannity spent a week promoting the desecration of the memory of a dead American, Seth Rich, who was murdered but not robbed in Washington last summer, as part of a failed effort to exonerate Trump à la russe, BuzzFeed reports, “Cars.com, Casper, and several other companies pulled advertising from Sean Hannity’s Fox News program Wednesday as the host continued to push a conspiracy theory about Seth Rich, the Democratic National Committee staffer who was killed in Washington, DC, last year.” There you have it, the almighty market! Follow the money to real news (if you can find it), not the sort of bullshit propaganda that Hannity promotes which sounds an awful lot like the sort of disinformation the Russian state promotes when it wishes to silence widows and family members and make people afraid. One problem: we Americans are not afraid. We are not slaves, we are citizens and we have money, and power and the right to vote in free and fair elections, unlike what happened last year. We know that for every one of our freedoms, blood has already been shed for the privilege. Maybe there is also a dacha for Hannity waiting in Rostov? Hannity probably will not need it, but by the time we patriots are done with him, he may want it.

The Associated Press reports, “Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that plans to encourage athletes to give evidence about doping remind him of denunciations during Josef Stalin’s purges.” This is ridiculous for a few reasons. First, Stalin is one of Putin’s heroes and he has done more than anyone since Stalin died to revive his legacy, memory and the cult around him (former First Secretary of the Communist Party and Director of the KGB Andropov seemingly being Putin’s #1 role model). Second, unlike Russian athletes, those killed in Stalin’s purges were largely innocent. They included my father’s uncle, a crime the Russians concealed from his widow as long as there was a Soviet Union. Putin’s act of historical revisionism and desecration came “While discussing a new plan of measures to fight drug use in sports, drawn up by a commission that Putin created last year, the Russian president was sharply critical of a section on encouraging whistleblowers.” The connection lyin’ Putin is making here is that “During the 1930s, many in the Soviet Union were executed on trumped-up charges based on accusations by neighbours.” However, no one accuses the Russian whistle-blowers of the widespread campaign of state sponsored doping of being induced to do so by the state or of lying, especially when their accusations have been substantiated and they have been chased out of modern Russia. Where is the hysterical Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova being deployed at present when this would be a really good time to deploy her hysterics? “Oh my god! My god!” Medieval savagery! Where is she!? Unavailable for comment, one would assume. Or like the torture and death of gay Chechens, perhaps this is not an area of expertise for Ms. Zakharova?

Russia Beyond the Headlines
notes, “There are a number of stereotypes about Russia such as cold climate, harsh manners of Russians, and rampant alcoholism. Russia is widely portrayed as the most alcohol-dependent country in the world,” while surveys suggest Lithuania and Belarus consume more, both were countries under Russian domination past and present. What’s worse than Russia? Being subjugated by Russia. While “It may be hard to believe,” fact is “he consumption of alcoholic beverages was absolutely unusual in Russia in ancient times.” In fact, “Before the adoption of Christianity in Russia (10th century), there was apparently no drunkenness at all. There were no vineyards and therefore no wine. People only drank beverages with low alcohol content such as mead, beer and braga.” Fourteenth century Genovese merchants brought “aqua vita” made from grapes from the South of France to Russia but Russians did not like it initially, using it only “for medicinal purposes.” It was not until the fifteenth century that “Russian monasteries started vodka production,” that the country has never been the same. Russia Beyond the Headlines notes, “Austrian Envoy Sigismund von Herberstein wrote in ‘Notes on Muscovy’ (1549), that the Russians ‘indulge in excessive drinking whenever the occasion arises,’” as they do to this very day. In Russia, the “state actually played a role in the spread of alcohol addiction in the country. A monopoly on the sale of alcohol filled the state treasury with huge revenues,” because Russia never much cared about its people as citizens, only as possible cash cows or serfs and later industrial workers, back when Russia had industry. It was not until the nineteenth century when “The situation became catastrophic,” as “the industrial production of vodka began” in Russia. In the last century, “Due to the collapse of the Soviet Union, unemployment, rampant crime and difficult living conditions, the consumption of alcohol in Russia reached enormous proportions in the 1990s.
