Multiple outlets are reporting a shooting at a baseball game in Alexandria, Virginia involving members of Congress. Early reports indicate Rep. Steve Scalise was shot. CBS News reports four shot, including the gunman and Scalise. Given what else is going on in the country and the fact that Trump’s legitimacy is in real trouble, now the truly fucked up shit begins.

It is no small irony that today is Trump’s birthday and also the U.S. Army’s, founded on this day in 1775. A little over a year older than our republic, which is officially celebrated with the Declaration of Independence on the Fourth of July, it is ironic now that much of the fate of the republic rests on the shoulders of Defense Secretary General James Mattis as our fake president Donald Trump is wholly incapable of fulfilling his duties to uphold the constitution and protect the health, welfare and national interest of the American people. The irony is compounded by the fact that after we get Russia out of our state, the big struggle will be to get the military back in civilian control.   Some day this may be like Hitler’s birthday because of the orange lunatic who was born on this day, but let’s hope our army and our people can prevent things from getting that far, which is very scary alone to contemplate, but that is where we are just one week shy of the start of month six of Dr. Strangelove in real life. Recall, Yale University professor and scholar of twentieth century authoritarianism Timothy Snyder reminds us that at best we have one year to save the republic. The clock on a few different doomsdays is ticking precariously close to midnight. So happy birthday U.S. Army! TRUMPISTAN WATCH will not be extending birthday wishes or well wishes of any kind to traitor trash Trump, he gets enough chocolate cake as it is for comfort.

Bloomberg reports, “Russia’s cyberattack on the U.S. electoral system before Donald Trump’s election was far more widespread than has been publicly revealed, including incursions into voter databases and software systems in almost twice as many states as previously reported.” Surprise! Just remember: everything is always so much worse than we are told and are made to believe. Remember, reality TV politics is supposed to be how we consume the competing narratives of Trump’s authoritarianism and the democratic state’s ultimate (let us hope) redemption. According to Bloomberg, turns out “In all, the Russian hackers hit systems in a total of 39 states, one of them said.” That is so much more than the three states initially reported! Illinois, TRUMPISTAN WATCH’s home state, turns out to have been patient zero for the hack. POLITICO labeled it a failed state the other day, too, so much to be proud of! Bloomberg notes, “The scope and sophistication so concerned Obama administration officials that they took an unprecedented stepcomplaining directly to Moscow over a modern-day ‘red phone.’” According to Bloomberg, “One of the mysteries about the 2016 presidential election is why Russian intelligence, after gaining access to state and local systems, didn’t try to disrupt the vote.” Don’t be so sure. This might be a bit like the dance the U.S. did with Pakistan over the assassination of Osama bin Laden. Carried out down the road from Pakistan’s elite military academy and home to a roster of the officer corps, the U.S. and Pakistan both claimed that no notice was given to the Pakistanis. True or not, some state secrets remain forever or for awhile unknown to the general public. For the U.S., the advantage is clear in this case: Russia not changing the vote maintains the integrity of the democratic system. For Russia, if it is shown that they contravened the vote counts, there will be hell to pay beyond what they are even seeing now. They are begging for mercy now from sanctions, which are about to get tighter, so imagine. Listen to some Toby Keith, the militant songs, for ideas and inspiration of what that might look like. Prepare for the worst case and hope for the best. MUST READ.

From Bloomberg.

The AP reports, “A vote on the Russia sanctions is scheduled for Wednesday, and the measure is expected to get strong bipartisan support. The legislation was worked out by Sens. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, and Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, of the Banking Committee, and Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Ben Cardin, D-Md., of the Foreign Relations panel.” Surprise! According to Russian state-run Sputnik the Kremlin would like to avoid the “pique of sanctions”. Pity.

The AP reports, “The U.S. relationship with Russia is at an all-time low and deteriorating further, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Tuesday, yet he cautioned against taking steps that might close off promising avenues of communication between the two former Cold War foes.” Why? Because he is also an Order of Friendship medal recipient and part of a regime following the Russian coup that installed a puppet aspiring dictator mafia Don Trump last November. This regime serves Russia, not the American people.

“I am not stonewalling!” Uttered yesterday by Attorney General Jeff “Private Russian” Sessions is the new, “I am not a crook!” for now. Yesterday’s hearing with Private Russian Sessions and the Senate intelligence committee was an exercise first in enduring an awkward read along of his written testimony followed by a q and a with the senators! In the surprise of the century, Senator Richard Burr, the committee chair, shredded Private Russian Sessions. The Washington Post reports, “Attorney General Jeff Sessions repeatedly refused to answer questions from senators Tuesday about his private conversations with President Trump, including whether he spoke to Trump about former FBI director James B. Comey’s handling of the investigation into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential race.” The Washington Post notes, “Sessions frequently said he couldn’t recall specifics, particularly when asked about his meetings with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign.” Overall, activist Andrea Chalupa’s initial impression captured in a tweet was most correct, “#JeffSessions looks uncomfortable. Someone get him a white hood. #SessionsHearing”.

From The Washington Post.

POLITICO reports, “Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said Tuesday that he had multiple meetings with FBI director James Comey shortly before President Donald Trump fired him on May 9.” POLITICO reminds us, “Those meetings could become a crucial piece of the timeline as a special counsel probes whether Trump may have obstructed justice by firing Comey, who had been overseeing an investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. The investigation is also probing whether any of Trump’s campaign associates assisted the Russian effort.”

Forbes reports, “Venezuela defaulted on part of its $2.5 billion loan from Russia’s state-controlled oil company Rosneft once again, giving Wall Street bond lords cause for concern that a default on PDVSA oil bonds is right around the corner.” Now recall, PDVSA “owed Rosneft a reported $950 million.” Also recall part of that is guaranteed by PDVSA’s holdings in Citgo, a major U.S. oil company that runs numerous refineries in the U.S. Forbes reports, “Investors have been waiting for an official default for nearly a year now. Venezuela keeps pulling a rabbit out of its hat. Last month, Goldman Sachs ‘loaned’ the government $2.8 billion by buying distressed PDVSA bonds.” As Venezuela’s crisis spirals more and more out of control, “Cash flow concerns continue. To make matters worse, a Deleware [sic] court granted Canadian miner Crystallex International a $1.4 billion arbitral award against the Venezuelan government on June 12.” However, “Venezuela’s political crisis has yet to lead to regime change. Nicolas Maduro is still in power following two months of daily protests calling for his ouster.” Recall: Venezuela is the number four foreign supplier of U.S. oil. Long-standing TRUMPISTAN WATCH prediction: the total collapse of Venezuela sets in motion a geopolitical crisis that ends in part with Trump’s ouster because oil prices and American political power are intrinsically connected, especially if coupled with a move to tighten supplies by Mexico, perhaps in retaliation for a trade war or a #FuckingWall. Mexico is the U.S.’s number two foreign oil supplier. Forbes notes, “Despite the anti-Yankee world view from Chavez and his ilk, Venezuela’s government seems less fond of the Russians and the Chinese. Even the Canadians. It is the Americans bond fund manager getting paid first.”

The National Interest reports, “U.S. Marines engaged in a mock beach landing in the Baltics on Tuesday in a scene reminiscent of the D-Day landings of World War II.” Guess why they might need to do that? Russia. The amphibious landing came as part of BALTOPS, “an annual exercise involving approximately 6,000 troops that runs from June 1 to 16.” According to The National Interest, “The drill, which took place on a beach in Latvia, is a key component of the exercise which aims to project NATO power from sea at a time when the Russian threat to the Baltics has taken a drastic increase.”

From The National Interest.

The AP reports, “A Latvian man has made an initial appearance in U.S. federal court for his alleged involvement in a hacking scheme that caused internet users to lose millions of dollars.” Named as “Twenty-eight-year-old Peteris Sahurovs,” the AP reports, he “was indicted in 2011 in a ‘scareware’ scheme that targeted the Minneapolis Star Tribune’s website.” According to “The indictment says Sahurovs and an accomplice created a phony advertising agency and bought ads on startribune.com, then infected computer users who visited the site with malware. The affected computer users were tricked into buying purported antivirus software.” The AP notes, “The scheme generated more than $2 million. Sahurovs was arrested in Latvia in June 2011 but fled after a Latvian court released him. He was arrested in Poland last fall and extradited to the U.S.” None of that is going towards a lawyer now it seems as “The federal defender’s office will represent him, but he hasn’t yet been assigned an attorney.”

Deutsche Welle reports, “Macedonia, required to formally be called the ‘Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’ or ‘FYROM,’ has been working on its Membership Action Plan  – the pathway to becoming a NATO ally,” which includes solving the dispute over the country’s name because of objections over the country’s name from Greece. Well, wow! The State Department formally recognized Macedonia as such or the Republic of Macedonia in 2004 but in international bodies, that is not the case due to strenuous objections from Greece, which has a region bordering the Republic of Macedonia/FYROM that is also called Macedonia. Also at stake is the legacy of Philip of Makedon and Alexander the Great. Recall, nation states are a nineteenth century invention and we are dealing with the fallout of ancient empires. In any case, because absolutely everyone is terrified of Russia and as “Balkan neighbors Croatia and Montenegro earned that status in 2002 and 2009, respectively,” and became NATO members, Macedonia too sees membership in the trans-Atlantic alliance as its best security guarantee. Now, this is not because Trump is berating NATO allies to spend more and trying to hold back on conceding the relevance of Article V like the foundation of the Western security alliance is an ace of spades and this is all a giant poker game. This is purely because Russia is a global security menace, or as Mattis put it on the hill Monday, “a strategic competitor” that we might see progress on the Macedonia name dispute. According to Deutsche Welle, “Diplomatic sources and media reports say that is likely to be ‘Upper Macedonia’ or the ‘Upper Republic of Macedonia.’” Wow. Will Russia bribe Greece to say that is not good enough?

From Deutsche Welle.

Bloomberg reports, “President Donald Trump’s longtime personal lawyer said he’s been summoned to appear before the House Intelligence Committee in September,” and said the encounter is currently scheduled for September 5. Unclear is whether it will be open or closed door. Cohen had previously tried to dodge testifying but it seems the arm of the law has caught up with him, just like in Hollywood where it always does. The noose is tightening around Trump’s inner circle. Feel the heat. Our little mafia Don must be squealing like a greased orange pig running loose in the West Wing.

From Bloomberg.

Trump’s novel legal strategy of trying to persuade the court of public opinion that he never dangled Comey’s job in front of him in an effort to squash the investigation into his campaign’s corroboration with Russia, he is having his lawyer and friends suggest he could fire the FBI special counsel, former FBI Director Robert Mueller, who was appointed after Comey was fired. Mueller is of course now special counsel on the investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia, which are so vast and numerous they require an all-star team of litigators, investigators, former prosecutors and veteran FBI agents. Now Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, “said that if the president ordered him to fire Mueller, he would comply only if the request was ‘lawful and appropriate,’” reports The Washington Post. Additionally, The Washington Post notes, “Rosenstein, who has been on the job for six weeks, said only he could fire Mueller and only if he found good cause to do so. He described Mueller as operating independently from the Justice Department in his investigation.”

From The Washington Post.

The Hill reports House intelligence committee co-chair Adam Schiff “early Tuesday expressed concern over the role of House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (D-Calif.) [sic R-Calif.] in the investigation into the Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential race.” God damn, DARKNESS AT NUNES what traitor trash is this now? According to The Hill, “‘It does concern me is that he is still insisting on signing off on the subpoenas in the Russia investigation,’ Schiff said on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe.’” Schiff added, “It’s still inexcusable that he’s ultimately a check on what the Russia investigation can do”. God damn. What an unusual outbreak of treason totally in line with the times, the executive, the Party of Russia which is forever complicit now in crimes against the republic.

The Daily Beast reports, “Rick Gates, the longtime lobbying partner of ousted Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort is still making multiple visits to the White House — even though the Trump administration has sought to distance itself from Gates’ former boss.” No wonder they need authoritarianism to cling to their power so badly, they are so completely stupid. According to The Daily Beast, “Gates—no stranger to these controversial ties—has managed to wedge himself back into Trump-world, having landed a sweet new gig with one of President Donald Trump’s best and wealthiest friends… Gates—no stranger to these controversial ties—has managed to wedge himself back into Trump-world, having landed a sweet new gig with one of President Donald Trump’s best and wealthiest friends,” Tom Barrack. The “millionaire and former fundraiser” is credited with sending Trump messages with such well wishes as “YOU ROCK!” and bringing Paul Manafort into Trumpworld. The Daily Beast reports, “when Barrack stops by to meet Trump in the West Wing, he has brought Gates with him, according to multiple sources familiar with the meeting. Late last week, Barrack was again at the White House, with Gates in tow, two White House officials confirmed.”

Get ready for some horseshit! Russian state-run TASS reports, “Moscow does not consider that rallies where people express their civic stance are dangerous but warns about dangers coming from provocateurs, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.” Got that, namely the part where they do not consider themselves, the Russian mafia state elite, to be the true provocateurs in this equation by robbing their nation blind, sending their children abroad, living lives of luxury, all while brutalizing or murdering any dissenters and robbing the people of Russia of all chance at life in a free and normal country?

The Washington Post reports, “Oliver Stone defended Vladimir Putin to Stephen Colbert. The audience laughed at him.” What did TRUMPISTAN WATCH say? If sad little man Putin wanted to be taken seriously as a great leader and show that Russia is a superpower, undercutting our system so brazenly and then buying up a bunch of C and D-listers or in Megyn Kelly’s case, horrible people who happen to be blond, to run a bunch of “Summer of Putin” shows on American television – this is not the way. No, you serve your term, retire gracefully, pen a memoir, take a job at a prestigious university as a visiting fellow or distinguished this or that at a think tank for a few years, become a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and then fold into your party’s elite. That is the way to respect from the West, not this horrible horseshit of buying up fascists and D-listers and doing crappy cultural programming extolling the great leader of Russia. And whatever you do, do not send you chief hagiographer to sit down with Stephen Colbert. The Washington Post reports, “In a short clip that ran before the interview, Putin claimed his country would never interfere in another country’s domestic affairs, to which Stone responded, ‘Thank you, sir. We’ll see you tomorrow.’ Colbert pressed Stone on the moment, wondering why he didn’t push harder. ‘You have to be polite,’ Stone insisted before throwing in some other facts to bolster his argument: It was a two-year deal, and Putin is a very busy man.” Oh man, Stone should just say he was bought and leave it at that, instant credibility from the audience for just being honest. Later as Stone continued to praise Putin, the audience openly laughed at his bullshit responses about how calm and mistreated by the media his beloved Putin is, The Washington Post reports, “‘I don’t know why you’re laughing,’ Stone said, fed up.” Yes, this is how we treat traitors, with mockery and derision. If they are beyond shame, they are not beyond ego. For his part, according to Russian state-run Sputnik, little guy Putin is sad Americans do not like his propaganda, blames our Russophobia for not understanding Putin “art”. LOL, truly.

The Washington Post reports, “The COVFEFE Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) on Monday, aims to preserve tweets from the president’s personal Twitter account, ensuring that Trump’s social-media posts are archived as presidential records.” This will become important when we get to the stage of national memory for past atrocities and face a wave of deniers and skeptics who continue to promote Trump and his non-existent ideology beyond personal enrichment as a mafia Don. According to The Washington Post, “COVFEFE stands for: Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically for Engagement.”

National Catholic Register reports, “A Soviet-era priest and bishop who continually defied communist rule and spent much of his ministry in prison will be beatified later this month in Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital. Archbishop Teofilius Matulionis was declared a martyr by Pope Francis Dec. 16, clearing the way for his beatification.” As far as his biography, National Catholic Register notes, “Born in Kudoriškis, in what is now Lithuania, in 1873, Archbishop Matulionis was the second son of a farming family and seemed to be drawn to the religious life from an early age. In 1900, he was ordained a priest in what is now Belarus, where his zeal for the faith immediately raised the suspicions of the authorities of the Russian Empire, which was closely aligned with the Russian Orthodox Church. In 1909, he was sentenced by a court for baptizing a child from a mixed Orthodox and Catholic family, a sentence he served in a Dominican convent. In 1917, he witnessed the violent persecution of the Church under the Bolshevik Revolution. And in 1923, he was sentenced to three years in Moscow prisons for refusing to sign an act on the appropriation of Church property and buildings. Released a year ahead of time and allowed to return to Lithuania, the priest chose instead to go back to his parish in St. Petersburg, where he was secretly ordained a bishop in 1929. Soviet trouble never far behind, the bishop found himself in prison again in 1929, where this time he was subjected to solitary confinement and then to hard labor and malnourishment, which took its toll on his health. He was eventually released in an exchange of prisoners between Lithuania and the Soviet Union in 1933.” He was praised by Pope Pius XI, twice, once upon his release in 1933 and again during a second visit to Vatican in 1936. National Cathoic Register continues, “In 1943, he was appointed bishop of  Kaišiadorys. While he was free, Bishop Teofilius traveled to the United States, Rome, the Holy Land and the Sinai Peninsula. Afterwards, he returned to Kaunas, Lithuania, where, despite Soviet and Nazi threats, the bishop spoke out boldly against the regimes, their destruction of churches and religious persecution. This led, again, to his arrest in 1946. Harassed even after his release, “During a ‘search,’ the archbishop was given a lethal injection under the pretense of sedatives. He died three days later, on Aug. 20, 1962” and never made it to the Vatican Two conference.
