KELLY: THANKLESS TASK OF KEEPING FAKE NEWS OFF TRUMP’S DESK
The New York Times reports, “The president was given pieces of unvetted information, and found more on his own that he often tweeted out. Policy decisions were often based on whoever had last gotten Mr. Trump’s attention. But now, “inside the West Wing, the president’s new chief of staff, John F. Kelly, has been trying to control the things he can.” According to The New York Times, dad had to step in and “In two memos sent to the staff on Monday he began to detail his plan, starting with how he wants information to get to the president, and how Mr. Trump will respond.” The president is a toddler, remember? Do not feed the toddler false information. According to The New York Times, “The pair of memos, signed by Robert Porter, the assistant to the president for policy coordination and staff secretary, as well as Mr. Kelly, codified rules and procedures that a White House typically sets at the outset of an administration.” Dear god, before now they have just been throwing blocks at each other. Now will learn the alphabet! Because the child is a special, aggressive, irate, narcissistic and deeply paranoid case, “Mr. Kelly has made clear that one thing he will not seek to directly control is the behavior of the president, and there is a good reason for that.” This is because “Trump has a history of lashing out at advisers who have publicly conveyed their attempts to impose tighter procedures on him.” (See more in DISINFO WARS on the far right’s highly negative reaction.)

BRENNAN: SOME IN CONGRESS AREN’T WOKE TO RUSSIAN COUP
BuzzFeed reports, “In an internal memo to CIA employees last December, CIA Director John Brennan complained that some members of Congress he had briefed about the agency’s assessment that Russia interfered in the U.S. presidential election did not ‘understand and appreciate the importance and gravity of the issue.’” No shit. Ahem Dana Rohrabacher. Ahem DARKNESS AT NUNES. Ahem Trey Gowdy. Those are the biggest offenders in the House, but it seems Brennan plays with the big boys in the Upper House, the Senate. The December 16, 2016 memo “did not identify the lawmakers who expressed skepticism about the CIA’s judgment that Russia helped Donald Trump win the election. But three intelligence sources told BuzzFeed News that Brennan’s criticism was directed at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senator John Cornyn, the Majority Whip.” Both sought to downplay the story and Cornyn even said it was “hardly news,” which is actually a statement of great accuracy but only in the most sarcastic sense. BuzzFeed notes, “Brennan’s memo said he met separately with then-FBI Director James Comey and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper earlier that week ‘and there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our recent Presidential election.’” As TRUMPISTAN WATCH was finally able to publish a piece on active measures that had been ready to go for weeks three days after on Quartz, hope it provided some comfort to NOT THE ENEMY. TRUMPISTAN WATCH and many, many others were not alone and an important voice in power felt what was a shared emotion among scholars, journalists and diplomats of the post-Soviet sphere and authoritarianism, tyranny. For the most part though, the media discourse was wrapped in the partisanship of the election and failed to see the forest for the trees.
RUSSIA ISSUES NEW INTERPOL NOTICE FOR BROWDER WHO SAYS IT’S 4TH
The Telegraph reports, “Russia is facing a showdown with European leaders over claims it is ‘abusing’ the international ‘red notice’ system for arresting criminals, in an attempt to silence critics of Vladimir Putin.” The Telegraph notes, “A Council of Europe report this year cited earlier Russian attempts to seek Mr [Bill] Browder’s arrest through Interpol as an example of alleged ‘abuses’ of the system by states pursuing ‘political goals’.” On Twitter, Browder writes, “Russia issues 4th Interpol Red Notice arrest warrant request for me. They definitely haven’t given up”.

ZAPAD WATCH: ABOUT THOSE OBSERVERS…
The AP reports, “NATO’s chief says the military alliance will send two experts to attend Russia’s war games with Belarus, after Minsk invited them to take part.” Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports, “NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has urged Moscow to meet its international commitments to be fully transparent about war games planned for next month in Belarus and western Russia.”

WHO OR WHAT IS A RICK DEARBORN?
Newsweek reports he “currently serves as the deputy chief of staff to President Donald Trump” and “reportedly received an email in June 2016 from a person attempting to set up a meeting between Trump campaign officials and Russian President Vladimir Putin,” according to a recent CNN report. Newsweek notes, “Before working on the Trump campaign as a policy aide, Dearborn served as chief of staff to former Alabama senator turned U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.” That is Private Russian Sessions to TRUMPISTAN WATCHians. That’s it. That is literally all they got. Um, hello, do more than read us his recent biography according to Washington title-dom next time, please, Newsweek? Thin piece. But you are reminded of his existence, which might prove important later.
FOLLOW THE TALE OF THE DEAD RUSSIAN DIPLOMATS
The Daily Beast offers this lyrical description of the lives of Russia’s senior diplomats: “Russian diplomats do not leave much of their life on the public record in any case, and when they pass away, their biographies grow even thinner. There is no suggestion, generally, of their habits, vanities, passions.” The Daily Beast follow “the trail of dead Russians,” in this case diplomats, as the FBI’s Clint Watts put it in Congressional testimony earlier this year. As such, each of the Russian diplomats who has passed away Russian Ambassador to Ankara Andrey Karlov was shot dramatically in a gallery in Ankara to earlier this week when the death of Russia’s Ambassador to Khartoum Migayas Shirinskiy was found dead in his swimming pool. In between, most prominently for Americans, in December Russia’s Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin died suddenly in his office at the Russian Mission to the UN. The autopsy has been classified by the U.S. government, ostensibly at the request of the Russian government, ostensibly for privacy reasons.

HOTLINE SYRIA: WASHINGTON THIS IS MOSCOW CALLING + VICE VERSA
Reuters reports, “Even as tensions between the United States and Russia fester, there is one surprising place where their military-to-military contacts are quietly weathering the storm: Syria,” adding, “U.S. and Russian military officials have been regularly communicating”. Additionally, “There is also a telephone hotline linking the former Cold War foes’ air operations centers. U.S. officials told Reuters that there now are about 10 to 12 calls a day on the hotline”. Reuters reports, “The reality is we’ve worked through some very hard problems and, in general, we have found a way to maintain the deconfliction line (that separates U.S. and Russian areas of operation) and found a way to continue our mission,” Lieutenant General Jeffrey Harrigian, the top U.S. Air Force commander in the Middle East, said in an interview.
FAR RIGHT HAS A FIT THAT KELLY THINKS THEIR WORK IS BULLSHIT
The Washington Examiner reports, “White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has instituted a new White House policy to control how President Trump gets his news and internet provocateurs such as Chuck Johnson aren’t happy. Johnson said, “We in the alternative media won the election for Trump”. Let that sink in. Citing a report in POLITICO that said, “Kelly has recruited Rob Porter, a staff secretary and Rhodes Scholar, to screen every white paper, memo, and news article headed to Trump’s desk”. Johnson spoke a bunch of populist gibberish about peddling lies. Then he suggested Kelly might get in the way of intimacy of IMPOTUS and the First Lady, as if she is with for any reason other than his money and there is any. In a nutshell, this provides an insightful glimpse into the self-delusional folly and bogus myths among this generation of far right internet miscreants, trolls and other degenerate life forms populating the neo-Nazi and white supremacist, men’s rights class of pathetic little white boys. BuzzFeed adds quotes from this little snowflake who has blocked me on Twitter, Lucian Wintrich, for calling him and his journalistic achievements a zero, “I’m scared that the military complex is taking over the formerly populist White House”. Meanwhile on planet sanity, TRUMPISTAN WATCH cheers that very fact in present circumstances and sees battles against it ahead but for now, look at the alternatives. Someone needs to grab Wintrich by the pussy! Mike Cernovich, who recently was retweeted by Trump trash for complaining about shootings in Chicago and lack of media attention to it just after Charlottesville, was quicker to the punch. “He’s controlling every article that passes through the West Wing right now,” and, “This shuts out a lot of people,” Cernovich notes. Yes, dear, by design. The president will also see his Info Wars diet trimmed, thank fucking god.
AP STARTS “NOT REAL NEWS” TO FACT CHECK + DEBUNK BOGUS STORIES
The AP said, “We first began publishing AP Fact Checks of suspected false stories in December, when we began an initiative with Facebook to debunk widely shared stories that were not true. ‘Not Real News’ is an outgrowth of that. We thought a tight 5-things list would be accessible and shareable for our customers and the public, and draw good attention to our core mission of fact-based journalism.” Fact-based journalism. Let that phrase sink in. So now that AP has done this and given it a good name, will Reuters match them? How will AP pick its top five? The AP responds, “We have several ways to track popular but false stories — in-house metrics tools we use, like NewsWhip, among them. We look at the stories Facebook users are flagging or sharing widely. Sometimes a bureau will point out an item that bubbled up on a reporter’s beat and we’ll find them that way.”
