MUELLER TIME: TRUMP’S LAWYER’S SPOKESMAN GETS AN INTERVIEW

CNBC reports, “Special Counsel Robert Mueller is seeking to interview the former spokesman of President Donald Trump’s legal team as part of an investigation into potential collusion between Russia and Trump’s campaign”. CNBC adds, “Mark Corallo had represented Trump’s outside lawyers amid the federal and congressional Russia inquiries until he resigned last summer.” CNBC notes, “the interview was expected within two weeks. Corallo may be questioned about reports that Trump had dictated a misleading statement on a meeting in June 2016 that his son held with a group of Russians”.

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED ON THE WAY HOME FROM HAMBURG?

The New York Times reports, “Aboard Air Force One on a flight home from Europe last July, President Trump and his advisers raced to cobble together a news release about a mysterious meeting at Trump Tower the previous summer between Russians and top Trump campaign officials. Rather than acknowledge the meeting’s intended purpose — to obtain political dirt about Hillary Clinton from the Russian government — the statement instead described the meeting as being about an obscure Russian adoption policy.” The New York Times notes, “The revelation of the meeting was striking: It placed the president’s son and his top campaign officials in direct contact with a Russian lawyer who promised damaging information on Mrs. Clinton, and an email to the president’s son emerged saying that the information was part of Russia’s effort to help the Trump campaign. The special counsel is investigating how those revelations were handled in real time in part because the president was involved in his administration’s response.” The New York Times adds, “What is already clear is that, as Mr. Trump’s aides and family members tried over 48 hours to manage one of the most consequential crises of the young administration, the situation quickly degenerated into something of a circular firing squad. They protected their own interests, shifted blame and potentially left themselves — and the president — legally vulnerable.” The New York Times continues, “The latest witness to be called for an interview about the episode was Mark Corallo, who served as a spokesman for Mr. Trump’s legal team before resigning in July.” The New York Times reports, “Mr. Corallo is planning to tell Mr. Mueller about a previously undisclosed conference call with Mr. Trump and Hope Hicks, the White House communications director, according to the three people. Mr. Corallo planned to tell investigators that Ms. Hicks said during the call that emails written by Donald Trump Jr. before the Trump Tower meeting — in which the younger Mr. Trump said he was eager to receive political dirt about Mrs. Clinton from the Russians — ‘will never get out.’ That left Mr. Corallo with concerns that Ms. Hicks could be contemplating obstructing justice”.   This is why you hire people with more experience than Hope Hicks, because she literally does not know what the hell she is doing. Hope Hicks sinks the whole ship!

MUELLER TIME: DOCS ABOUT PRIVATE RUSSIAN SESSIONS, FLYNN

ABC News reports, “In the weeks before special counsel Robert Mueller’s team interviewed Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the Justice Department turned over a cache of internal correspondence, including documents related to the proposed resignation of Sessions last year and emails with the White House about fired national security adviser Michael Flynn”.

TRUMP KNOWS HE NEEDS A REICHSTAG FIRE

PBS NewsHour reports, “Hours before his first State of the Union, President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he wants to unite the country amid ‘tremendous divisiveness’ and hopes he can do so without a traumatic event affecting Americans. Trump spoke about creating a more united country during a lunch with a number of television news anchors.” What is that really? Think about it. Putin had his goons in the intelligence service bomb civilian housing until people were sufficiently scared to desire a strong leader, which with only Putin being offered, was easier to mistake. Hitler of course had his Reichstag fire. What the hell is this creepy, sociopathic racist alluding to? Why is he telling it to news anchors as if it is some coming attraction? Why is the press writing about it as if it is a desire for unity, and not a desire for destructive terror as it actually is?

NOT 1 BUT 2 RUSSIAN SPY CHIEFS HAD SECRET MEETING WITH POMPEO

The Washington Post reports, “Two top Russian spy chiefs traveled to Washington last week to discuss counterterrorism issues with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, but the unusual visit also raised concerns among some U.S. officials that Moscow could interpret the encounter as a sign the Trump administration is willing to move beyond the issue of election interference”. The Washington Post adds, “Pompeo met with Sergey Naryshkin, the head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service or SVR, and Alexander Bortnikov, who runs the FSB, which is the main successor to the Soviet-era security service the KGB. The head of Russia’s military intelligence, the GRU, also came to Washington, though it is not clear he met with Pompeo. A senior U.S. intelligence official based in Moscow was also called back to Washington for the meeting with the CIA chief”. Beyond not normal! The Washington Post notes, “Current and former U.S. intelligence officials said they could not recall so many heads of Russia’s espionage and security apparatus coming to Washington at once and meeting with a top American official. They worried the Kremlin could conclude the United States is open to forgiving Russia for its actions and was not resolved to forcefully prevent future meddling.” Obviously they are speaking to pre-Trumpistani democratic times in America, not our current status as Trumpistan, a Russian mafia state colony. Of grave concern, “A description of the meeting sent to U.S. intelligence officers portrayed Russia as a partner willing to work with the United States and said the countries should look for ways to cooperate on counterterrorism issues,” The Washington Post reports. Horrific.

IN THE LINE OF FIRE DEPUTY AG ROSENSTEIN ALREADY GOT LOYALTY TEST

CNN reports, “Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein visited the White House in December seeking President Donald Trump’s help. The top Justice Department official in the Russia investigation wanted Trump’s support in fighting off document demands from House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes. But the President had other priorities ahead of a key appearance by Rosenstein on the Hill, according to sources familiar with the meeting. Trump wanted to know where the special counsel’s Russia investigation was heading. And he wanted to know whether Rosenstein was ‘on my team.’” So this is the beginning of the leak war with the FBI Trump has opened up and also the start of our constitutional crisis!

SENATORS REACT TO TRUMP’S FAKE NO SANCTIONS LIST + NON ACTION

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports, “U.S. senators have criticized President Donald Trump for not imposing new sanctions on Russia after his administration released a list of 210 officials and billionaires from the country’s ruling elite, exposing them to scrutiny and potential future punitive measures. Meanwhile, a former top U.S. State Department official closely involved in sanctions policy, slammed the new measures, in particular the so-called ‘oligarchs list,’ calling its contents and its roll-out ‘somewhere between puzzling and inexplicable.’” Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty continues, “In the letter sent a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Senator Ben Cardin, the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and 19 other Senate Democrats said the failure by the Trump administration to impose new sanctions was ‘unacceptable.’” Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty adds, “Daniel Fried, who helped coordinate U.S. sanctions policies across two administrations,” said the list itself “also appears to have been insufficiently vetted

RUSSIAN THEATER OVER TRUMP’S FAKE NO SANCTIONS LIST CONTINUES

Russian state-run TASS reports, “Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev has called the US ‘Kremlin List’ another Washington’s attempt to hide domestic problems behind external threats.” Remember rule number one of Russian disinformation operations is to accuse your opponent of that which you yourself are guilty. According to Russian state-run TASS, “‘The “Kremlin report” published yesterday is nothing else than a new US attempt to hide domestic problems behind external threats,’ Patrushev, who is also mentioned in the list, told reporters on Wednesday.”

FBI DIRECTOR THROWS DOWN OVER DARKNESS AT NUNES MEMO

The New York Times reports, “Christopher A. Wray, the F.B.I. director, clashed publicly with the president for the first time on Wednesday, condemning a push by House Republicans to release a secret memo that purports to show how the bureau and the Justice Department abused their authorities to obtain a warrant to spy on a former Trump campaign adviser.” Christopher Wray just shot at the memo and riddled it with holes. According to The New York Times, “The ‘F.B.I. was provided a limited opportunity to review this memo the day before the committee voted to release it,’ Mr. Wray said in a statement. ‘As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy.’” The New York Times notes, “Mr. Wray made a last-ditch effort on Monday, when he went to the White House with the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, to try to persuade the White House to stop the release of the memo.” POLITICO adds, “Wray’s FBI sought to protect itself from the administration, firing a warning shot at Trump and his Republican allies”. POLITICO continues, “The statement marked a dramatic escalation in the simmering conflict between Wray and the president who appointed him”. POLITICO adds, “In a puzzling move, spokespeople for the Justice Department declined to say whether agency leaders agreed or disagreed with the statement from the FBI, which is part of the Justice Department.” Also “Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said in a string of tweets that if the memo is released, he would seek the disclosure of ‘a long list of less sensitive, but still classified, information that the American people deserve to see.’”

From The New York Times and POLITICO.

KELLY HAD SAID DARKNESS AT NUNES’ MEMO COMING RIGHT UP

CNN reports, “President Donald Trump’s chief of staff said on Wednesday the White House would soon allow for the release of a highly controversial Republican memo alleging the FBI abused its surveillance tools. John Kelly, speaking on a Fox News radio program, said Trump and his team were reviewing the document produced by Rep. Devin Nunes, R-California, and would open it to the public shortly.” Kelly said, “It’ll be released here pretty quick, I think. And the whole world can see it”. This is a day after Trump was caught on a live mic saying it is coming right up “100%” but before Rep. Adam Schiff took to Twitter to write, “Discovered late tonight that Chairman Nunes made material changes to the memo he sent to White House – changes not approved by the Committee. White House therefore reviewing a document the Committee has not approved for release.” What the hell is going on DARKNESS AT NUNES and how is this shit any different than previous shit he has tried to pull, like jumping from an Uber for a secret meeting with then National Security Council employee Ezra Cohen-Watnick? Remember that? Remember, as Kundera said, “The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting.”

WHERE IS MY PAGE? ON COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE RADAR SINCE 2013

The Wall Street Journal reports, “Carter Page, who served as a foreign-policy adviser to Donald Trump’s campaign, was known to U.S. counterintelligence officials for years before he became a prominent figure in a dossier of unverified research about the future president’s ties to Russia.”

FAKEBOOK GAVE USERS KASPERSKY SPYWARE

The Times of London reports, “Facebook gave the Russian antivirus software at the centre of spying fears to a large number of users from 2015 to last year. The tech and publishing company told a Congress inquiry into Russian interference in the US election that it stopped providing Kaspersky Lab’s scans last October.” The Times of London adds, “It said it was ‘unable to easily reconstruct how many users downloaded the software’. However, a figure in the millions appears likely. Kaspersky said in June 2015: ‘In the last three months we’ve protected over 260,000 Facebook users.’” Again Fakebook’s claims they don’t know a thing, as one of the most data centric companies on the planet, is hogwash.

DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS PRESS ANTISOCIAL NETWORKS ON THEIR ROLE

The Washington Post reports, “Social media companies continued to face pressure over exploitation of their platforms, as lawmakers on Wednesday chastised Facebook and Twitter for failing to explain the role pro-Russian accounts played in a large online campaign to release a classified memo related to the Russia investigation. In a new letter to Facebook and Twitter, two top congressional Democrats, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Adam B. Schiff, said the companies had not adequately answered their questions from last week about whether Kremlin-affiliated accounts had promoted a hashtag campaign called #ReleaseTheMemo.” The Washington Post adds, “Feinstein and Schiff, both of California, also released the responses Facebook and Twitter sent to them last week following their initial letter, which they called inadequate and incomplete.”

ROGER STONE PAYS HOMAGE TO THE RUSSIAN MAFIA STATE IN LONDON

The Daily Beast reports, “Former Trump presidential campaign adviser Rogr Stone paid a visit to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Wednesday where Julian Assange has been holed up for the last five years. Stone is in Britain for a short speaking tour that will include addresses at the Oxford and Cambridge Unions. He told The Daily Beast that he had taken time out to drop by the embassy where Assange has been in hiding from an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.” No one is hiding this anymore, which is as disconcerting as everything that is happening to bring Trump’s Russia connections to the fore. The Daily Beast notes, “The connection between Stone and Assange has become a focal point in the investigation of links between Russia and the Trump campaign after it emerged that Stone had a communications backchannel with WikiLeaks,” the New York radio personality Randy Credico, The Daily Beast adds, “Stone said he had traveled to the embassy in Central London. He said he had not seen Assange in person but left his contact details for the controversial founder of WikiLeaks.” Absurdly and against the intelligence assessments of the real United States government, “In the bar after giving a speech in support of Brexit, he chatted with a small group of people to whom he insisted that Assange was no agent of Russia but simply ‘a journalist.’” Bullshit.

MOSCOW THUMBS ITS NOSE AT AMBASSADOR HUNTSMAN

Russian state-run TASS reports, “Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said the upper house has not received any requests so far for a meeting from US Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman. Earlier, the ambassador said he was ready to meet with Matviyenko, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov and other officials.” Matviyenko said, “As of today, the Federation Council has had no official requests for a meeting from the US ambassador. If this request comes, I will certainly make a decision depending on my possibilities and my schedule which is rather busy at the moment, and also depending on how the relevant agencies in the US will be responding to the requests from the Russian ambassador to the US, including to the Congress”. This is Russia thumbing its nose at us as they smash our sovereignty and help Trump to destroy our institutions. Russia only respects strength and as Trump has shown none, this is the level of disrespect that is shown in return.

PROVOCATION: RUSSIA NAMES AIR FORCE REGIMENT AFTER TALLINN

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports, “Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree naming the 23rd fighter aviation regiment the ‘Tallinn’ regiment, after the capital of neighboring Estonia. The decree, which was signed on January 29, was published on the Kremlin website on January 31.” Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty notes, “Putin’s decree has sparked concern in Estonia, a NATO member that has often had strained ties with Russia since it gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The Soviet Union occupied the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in 1940 as a result of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact signed with Nazi Germany in 1939 on the eve of World War II.”

WATCH THE VIDEO OF A RUSSIAN JET BUZZ A U.S. RECON PLANE

The Moscow Times reports, “The United States condemned ‘unsafe Russian military practices’ after a Russian Su-27 fighter flew within 5 feet of a U.S. surveillance airplane over the Black Sea on Monday.” And now there is video to support the U.S. account in part. The State Department “accused Russia of violating the 1972 Agreement for the Prevention of Incidents On and Over the High Seas (INCSEA), adding that the U.S. craft operated within international law.” The Moscow Times cites CNN and adds, “The incident caused the U.S aircraft to experience ‘a 15-degree roll and violent turbulence,’ Pentagon spokeswoman Michelle Baldanza,” said. FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH

CNN reports, “Attorneys for former national security adviser Michael Flynn and the special counsel’s office told a federal court on Wednesday evening they are not ready to schedule a sentencing hearing for Flynn. The government was set to deliver a status report on Flynn’s case to the court Thursday, but both sides have asked to delay the deadline for that report until May 1.” CNN notes, “Previously, a status update in the case of George Papadopoulos, President Donald Trump’s former campaign adviser, which the special counsel is also overseeing was delayed from February until mid-April. Taken together, the Flynn and Papadopoulos delays suggest special counsel Robert Mueller is not preparing for the investigation to wrap up before the spring.”

FORTY PERCENT OF TRUMP’S CAMPAIGN CASH CONSUMED BY LEGAL FEES

USA Today reports, “President Trump’s campaign raised another $6.9 million during the final months of last year, helping him amass more than $43 million during his first year in office.” That is insane! USA Today adds, “Trump, who took the unusual step of registering his reelection committee on the first day of his presidency, finished the year with $22.1 million banked for his 2020 campaign, filings Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission show.” Additionally, “Wednesday’s filing also shows the Trump campaign hired private investigators late last year, paying about $5,000 in December to Confidential Global Investigations.” Who are they investigating? Journalists, opposition, who else? None of this is normal for non-mafia states and their colonies, our current status.

SMIRKIN’ STEVE MNUCHIN HAS SOME EXPLAINING TO DO OVER SANCTIONS
POLITICO Magazine
carries a piece by The Atlantic Council’s Anders Aslund, who helped draft the real sanctions list, not the fake no sanctions list that Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin ultimately signed. Aslund writes, “both houses of Congress voted to adopt the new Combating America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA). In the House of Representatives, only three congressmen opposed it, and in the Senate the overwhelming vote count was 98 against 2. President Donald Trump had little choice but signed it into law, and he did so on August 2—grudgingly.” Aslund continues, “Soon, it emerged that section 241 of the new law had attracted great attention in Moscow. It called on the secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the director of national intelligence and the secretary of state, to submit within 180 days a detailed report identifying ‘the most significant senior foreign political figures and oligarchs’ in Russia. It was supposed to be ‘determined by their closeness to the Russian regime and their net worth.’ It should also be based on an ‘assessment of the relationship between individuals and President Vladimir Putin or other members of the Russian ruling elite’ and an ‘identification of any indices of corruption with respect to those individuals.’” Then we get to the funny business as, “In the last week, however, somebody high up – as yet unknown – threw out the whole expert work. It could be somebody in the State Department, the Treasury or the White House. Instead of using the vetted, thoroughly researched list, this unknown political superior simply wrote down the top of the Russian presidential administration and government plus the 96 Russian billionaires on the Forbes list.” Aslund notes, “This act has numerous implications. First, by this action, this senior official ridiculed the government experts who had prepared another report. Any serious Russian who reads the published list can only conclude that U.S. intelligence is as dumb as it gets. Second, this was supposed to be a list naming and shaming specific, odious and corrupt figures around the Kremlin. By mentioning more than 200 people, the U.S. government achieved the opposite effect,” and “The list includes several Kremlin critics.” Anders concludes, “By signing this list, the secretary of the Treasury has caused a great deal of damage,” adding, “Since the Treasury Department has issued this list, Secretary Steve Mnuchin is ultimately responsible. Why has he done something that can only benefit Putin?”

STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES
POLITICO
reports, “President Donald Trump’s top public health official resigned Wednesday amid mounting questions about financial conflicts of interest.” Wait for it, it’s so corrupt and stupid. POLITICO adds, “Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald’s resignation comes one day after POLITICO reported that one month into her tenure as CDC director, she bought shares in a tobacco company — the leading cause of preventable death and an issue she had long championed.” Unbelievable yet when it comes to the Trumpistani elites, she is really just another brick in the wall. POLITICO recalls, “Fitzgerald, a doctor and former Georgia Department of Public Health commissioner, assumed leadership of the agency in July and was close to former HHS Secretary Tom Price, who resigned in September after POLITICO reported his use of private jets.” POLITICO notes, “Fitzgerald came to the job with a large, complicated stock portfolio that included hundreds of thousands of dollars in investments. She had stock in five other tobacco companies including Reynolds American, British American Tobacco, Imperial Brands, Philip Morris International and Altria Group, Inc., as well as a number of pharmaceutical stocks which she subsequently sold as part of her ethics agreement.” POLITICO adds, “But the stock in Japan Tobacco was one of about a dozen new investments she made in the months after taking the helm of the agency, according to documents obtained by POLITICO. The purchase drew scrutiny from public health experts who said it goes against the mission of her agency and posed potential legal as well as ethical conflicts. She sold the tobacco stock at the end of October.”

FBI AGENT PETER STRZOK CONSPIRACY THEORIES WILL GO ON, THEY MUST!

CNN reports, “Emails obtained by CNN show the FBI agent at the center of a Capitol Hill storm played a key role in a controversial FBI decision that upended Hillary Clinton’s campaign just days before the 2016 election: the letter to Congress by then-FBI Director James Comey announcing the bureau was investigating newly discovered Clinton emails. The new revelation about FBI agent Peter Strzok comes as Republicans accuse him of being sympathetic to Clinton while seeking to undermine Donald Trump during the heat of the 2016 campaign season.” The fact and substance of the conspiracy are not relevant to the GOP death cult as much as the idea that there is a conspiracy theory that can be promoted to protect the president in the absence of facts that are helpful in demonstrating the innocence they allege. CNN adds, “Strzok, who co-wrote what appears to be the first draft that formed the basis of the letter Comey sent to Congress, also supported reopening the Clinton investigation once the emails were discovered on disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s laptop”. CNN notes, “Strzok did, however, harbor reservations about Comey making a public announcement just days before the election and sent a text message to that effect”.

SIDESHOW: AGALAROVS’ GUY SUES FOR LIBEL OVER CABLE TV COMMENTS

POLITICO reports, “Irakly ‘Ike’ Kaveladze, the so-called ‘eighth man’ at a controversial 2016 meeting between top associates of President Donald Trump and a politically connected Russian lawyer, has sued a California linguist for criticizing him on a cable television show this month. In his complaint, Kaveladze accuses George Lakoff of libel and slander for comments he made in an MSNBC interview with Chuck Todd, in which Lakoff called Kaveladze ‘the major person who has been responsible for money laundering from Russia and other post-Soviet countries.’” POLITICO adds, “A lawyer for Lakoff, a professor emeritus of cognitive science and linguists at University of California, Berkeley, appeared to welcome the litigation, saying in an email that ‘we look forward to demonstrating the accuracy of Dr. Lakoff’s statements.’”

OLYMPIC DOPING BANS ON 28 RUSSIAN ATHLETES OVERTURNED

CNN reports, “Doping bans on 28 Russian athletes were overturned on Thursday, throwing the International Olympic Committee’s policy on Russian doping into chaos just over a week before the start of the Winter Olympics in South Korea. The Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld the appeals of athletes given lifetime Olympic bans for doping violations during the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, saying there was insufficient evidence to show they had broken the rules.” CNN notes, “The ruling means that athletes’ 2014 results are reinstated and they could now seek to participate in the Winter Games in Pyeongchang, which open on February 9. In a further 11 cases, CAS ruled that doping violations had been committed but that lifetime bans were not justified and the punishments were cut to a ban for the 2018 Games alone.” Who paid off whom? CNN adds, “The IOC said the decision ‘may have a serious impact on the future fight against doping,’ and added that it could yet appeal the decision at the Swiss Federal Tribunal, the country’s highest court.” Of course, “The Kremlin said it was ‘very happy’ with the decision.” Meanwhile, Agence France Presse reports Putin has ordered “an alternative competition for Russian athletes banned from the Winter Olympics over a doping scandal, his spokesman said on Wednesday.”
