Yahoo! News reports, “The FBI has obtained secret wiretaps collected by Spanish police of conversations involving Alexander Torshin, a deputy governor of Russia’s Central Bank who has forged close ties with U.S. lawmakers and the National Rifle Association, that led to a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. during the gun lobby’s annual convention in Louisville, Ky., in May 2016, a top Spanish prosecutor said Friday.” Yahoo! adds, “José Grinda, who has spearheaded investigations into Spanish organized crime, said that bureau officials in recent months requested and were provided transcripts of wiretapped conversations between Torshin and Alexander Romanov, a convicted Russian money launderer. On the wiretaps, Romanov refers to Torshin as ‘El Padrino,’ the godfather.” Grinda said at the Hudson Institute, “Mr. Trump’s son should be concerned.” Additionally Yahoo! recalls, “the Spanish National Police were preparing to arrest Torshin in August 2013, when he was expected to fly to the Spanish island of Mallorca in August for the birthday party of Romanov. The arrest plan, which involved the deployment of more than a dozen police officers at the airport and at the hotel where the party was supposed to take place, grew out of a lengthy investigation headed by Grinda into Russian organized crime and money laundering. As part of the probe, the Guardia Civil wiretapped Romanov’s phone and picked up 33 conversations with Torshin. But Torshin never showed up for the party and he was never arrested. Grinda confirmed in an interview after his talk that some in the Guardia Civil suspected that Torshin had been tipped off to the arrest plan by Russian officials who had been asked to cooperate in the Spanish probe. But Grinda added that he was unable to prove that was why Torshin never showed up for the party.” Yahoo! notes, “Despite the suspicions about his ties to Russian money laundering, Torshin continued to travel frequently to the United States and even showed up as part of a Russian delegation in February 2017 to the National Prayer Breakfast, where he was at one point scheduled to meet with President Trump. (The meeting was canceled the night before, after National Security Council officials raised concerns about it.)”

NBC News reports, “Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., says the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., may have provided ‘false testimony’ to the Senate Judiciary Committee when he was asked about the Trump campaign’s involvement with foreign governments and foreign nationals. In a two-page letter Thursday to Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, the chairman of the panel, Coons said that information in recent news reports contradicts Trump Jr.’s September 2017 testimony.” NBC News adds, “Trump Jr. told the committee at the time that he was not ‘aware’ of foreign governments other than Russia offering or providing assistance to the Trump campaign and that he had not sought such help. His comments are not consistent with a reported meeting he had in August 2016, Coons said.” Who are you going to believe, a noted truth teller like Uday or the fake news media, which along with the FBI and John Brennan and James Clapper and the “Deep State” which all want you to believe people are not animals and screaming hoax is meaningless? Coons is referring to, as per his letter, “multiple recent news reports that three months before the election, Mr. Trump Jr. and campaign adviser Stephen Miller met with George Nader, an emissary for the crown princes of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia; Joel Zamel, an Israeli social media specialist linked to Israeli intelligence and the Emirati royal court; and Erik Prince, a campaign donor and private security contractor with business in the Middle East”.

CNN reports, “A Russian oligarch who was questioned by special counsel Robert Mueller and recently sanctioned by the US visited President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen in Trump Tower during the presidential transition in January 2017, according to video”. CNN adds, “The January 9, 2017, Trump Tower appearance by Viktor Vekselbergwhich was also reported Friday by The New York Times, adds to the questions swirling over the payments to Cohen, which Mueller’s team questioned Vekselberg about after the FBI stopped his private jet at a New York-area airport earlier this year.” CNN notes, “Vekselberg, chairman of Russian asset manager Renova Group, was accompanied at Trump Tower by Andrew Intrater, who is Vekselberg’s cousin and head of Columbus Nova. Vekselberg is Columbus Nova’s biggest client.” CNN recalls, “Intrater’s firm, Columbus Nova, paid $580,000 to Cohen for a consulting contract starting in January 2017.” This meeting was two days before the Steele dossier dropped in the press, on the heels of which Trump started describing our intelligence agencies as “Nazis”. The New York Times adds, “In Mr. Cohen’s office on the 26th floor, he and the oligarch, Viktor Vekselberg, discussed a mutual desire to strengthen Russia’s relations with the United States under President Trump, according to Andrew Intrater,” who told The New York Times, “We were in his office for about 15 minutes. We talked about how much we hoped U.S.-Russian relations would get better through business projects and cultural exchange.” The New York Times notes, “The next week, the three men sat together at one of the inaugural dinner events. While there, Mr. Intrater took a photo with Michael Flynn, Mr. Trump’s first national security adviser, Mr. Intrater said.”

The Hill reports, “A bipartisan pair of senators wrote” our fake Russian bullshit president last week “to express concern over his decision to eliminate a top cybersecurity position at the White House. The letter, sent Thursday by Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), represents the first instance of a Republican casting doubts publicly about the decision.” The Hill notes, Senators Collins and Heinrich “sit on the Senate Intelligence Committee.” The Hill recalls, “The note comes roughly two weeks after the National Security Council (NSC) confirmed it was eliminating the position of cybersecurity coordinator in order to improve management operations,” or rather because John Bolton, the new National Security Advisor, is as scummy and horrendous as the fake Russian bullshit president he kowtows for.

As “America First” continues to make America irrelevant in the world, Bloomberg reports, “The heads of major French and Japanese companies are getting red-carpet treatment alongside a handful of favored billionaires at President Vladimir Putin’s annual investment showcase in his hometown of St. Petersburg.” Bloomberg notes, “Patrick Pouyanne of Total and Jean-Bernard Levy of Electricite de France were awarded coveted front-row seats to Putin’s plenary session Friday alongside Toyota’s Takeshi Uchiyamada and Japan Post’s Masatsugu Nagato. Putin’s fellow panelists are French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan and International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde.” Minus the Chinese, these are all ostensibly U.S. allies cavorting with our fake Russian bullshit president’s state sponsor. At least during the plenary sessions things got real for half a moment as Putin indulged in his little man fantasies, showcasing an imagination as stunted in pre-pubescence as his height. The AP reports, “At the economic forum, Putin also engaged in a tongue-in-cheek exchange with French President Emmanuel Macron, saying with a smile that Russia could help protect Europe if its rift with the U.S. widens over Iran. ‘Don’t you worry, we will help ensure your security,’ Putin said. Macron responded on a serious note that France and its allies could stand for themselves.”

The Moscow Times reports, “A report by the open-source Bellingcat investigative team has identified a Russian military intelligence officer as the suspect sought by Dutch prosecutors for transporting the missile launcher that shot down Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine in 2014. The announcement came a day after a Dutch-led interim report by prosecutors said that the missile that shot down the plane was fired from a launcher in Russia’s 53rd Anti-Aircraft Brigade.” The Moscow Times adds, “Oleg Ivannikov, a high-ranking officer at Russia’s GRU military intelligence service, ‘supervised the procurement and transport of weapons across the Russia-Ukraine border,’ Bellingcat announced Friday.” The independent group used “open-source phonebook data and forensic voice analysis to identify Ivannikov. Bellingcat said Ivannikov was one of the two individuals that Dutch police were looking for in their investigation. In 2016, Dutch police called for witnesses to step forward with information on two people reportedly involved in the downing, identifying one of them as ‘Andrei Ivanovich, alias Orion.’”

reports, “Russia quietly conducted the world’s longest surface-to-air missile test, according to sources with direct knowledge of U.S. intelligence concerning the weapons program. The S-500 surface-to-air missile system successfully struck a target 299 miles away, which the U.S. assessed is 50 miles further than any known test”. CNBC notes, “Russia claims that the ground-based missile system is capable of intercepting hypersonic missiles, drones and aircraft as well as stealth warplanes like the F-22 and the F-35. The S-500 system would expand the Kremlin’s capabilities to engage multiple targets with precision strikes. Russia also claims the system has a range capable of destroying objects flying at near-space ranges or 62 miles above the Earth’s surface.” CNBC adds, “The latest revelation comes one week after CNBC learned that multiple U.S. intelligence reports assess that Russia will be capable of fielding a hypersonic glide vehicle called Avangard, a weapon that no country can defend against, by 2020. The hypersonic weapon is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, is designed to sit atop an intercontinental ballistic missile. Once launched, it uses aerodynamic forces to sail on top of the atmosphere.”

Haaretz reports, “Following Britain’s refusal to extend his visa, the Russian-Jewish billionaire businessman Roman Abramovich is seeking Israeli citizenship, an Israeli daily reported.” Israel is even more tied at the hip to the Russian mob than London is, so he will do just fine there. Also note: Moscow, not an option. Haaretz notes, “Abramovich, who owns the British Chelsea Football Club, landed Thursday in Israel to finalize his aliyah, or immigration to Israel. However, a spokeswoman at Israel’s Ministry of Immigrant Absorption told Russia’s state-owned Sputnik news agency that she had no such information.” Or rather, who knows what she told Russian state-run Sputnik or if she even spoke to them; that is what they printed.

POLITICO reports, “Poland wants a permanent U.S. military presence — and is willing to pony up as much as $2 billion to get it, according to a defense ministry proposal obtained by Polish news portal Onet.” What the hell happened to the Eurasian Union? Novorossiya? It is like sovereign nations want no part in what Russia is offering, which is usually never presented as an offer so much as a brutal, murderous occupation. But wait, maybe that is what is behind this as POLITICO notes, “The Polish offer reflects a long-standing desire in Warsaw to build closer security relations with the U.S. and put American boots on the ground. The push dates back to Poland’s entry into NATO in 1999, but has taken on added urgency in the wake of Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea region four years ago and aggressive posture toward the alliance.” POLITICO adds, “The document contains information on the proposed locations of military bases, hospitals — including their capacities — and possible schools or even gyms for the families of personnel. It was delivered to the U.S. government and Congress.” Then, a note of caution as it appears to have its roots in the regime of the previous Defense Minister who was ousted over his Kremlin ties as POLITICO reports without explaining this much that, “Dominik Smyrgała, who served as a deputy to former Polish Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz, under whom the proposal first started to take shape last summer, told Onet the proposal was drafted by senior ministry officials and a group of Polish military officers.” Most inexcusably, “In a sign of growing discord within the Polish government, the defense ministry confirmed that the proposal was sent to Washington before first consulting with the foreign ministry and — more importantly — without the knowledge of the president, Andrzej Duda, who is also the country’s commander in chief.” So it was quite possibly a pretext for Russia to flip out.

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports, “A U.S. judge has rejected a bid by President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort to have some of the criminal charges against him thrown out. The ruling in Washington on May 25 was the latest setback for Manafort, whose lawsuit challenging the authority of Special Counsel Robert Mueller to bring the case against him was also dismissed last week.” Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty adds, “In a motion, Manafort argued that the false-statement charges amounted to double jeopardy, charging him twice for the same offense of lying to the government. He also argued that the piling up of charges could prejudice a jury against him.” It’s called shock and awe, bitches, and these bitches don’t like it too much when it’s raining down on them, but too goddamn bad. So it goes, “in a seven-page ruling dismissing Manafort’s motion on May 25, U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson said any harm to Manafort at this stage in his criminal case could be handled by ‘proper’ jury instructions.” Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty notes she teased Manafort with hope, which he does not deserve, “She said he could revisit the double jeopardy matter after his trial, which is scheduled for September.”

POLITICO notes, “The move comes about a week after press reports that Yohai secretly entered a guilty plea earlier this year in a criminal case relating to financing for his real estate deals. The plea led to speculation that Yohai might be providing evidence to prosecutors working for special counsel Robert Mueller on two criminal cases against Manafort.” POLITICO adds, “In filings Friday in federal bankruptcy court, attorneys from the Torrance, California, law firm of Hinds & Shankman told a judge that they can no longer represent Yohai’s Baylor Holding, LLC real estate firm.” POLITICO notes, “Baylor is an investment vehicle Manafort and Yohai used to purchase various properties in the Los Angeles area. Gordon, another veteran of the Trump campaign. Caputo’s cooperation with congressional investigators, according to the statement, has cost him $125,000 in legal fees. At around the same time, President Trump vowed to find a way to prevent a major Chinese telecommunications company,” ZTE, “from going bust, even though the company has a history of violating American limits on doing business with countries like Iran and North Korea.” Sadly as per standard operating procedure the Normalizing Your Trash publication gives our fake Russian bullshit president and his daughter Aryan princess Ivanka a pass when it observes, wrongly, “Coincidence? Well, probably,” but notes “the remarkable timing”. What is that but egregious journalistic malpractice? In the same paragraph The New York Times notes, “Even as Mr. Trump contends with Beijing on issues like security and trade, his family and the company that bears his name are trying to make money off their brand in China’s flush and potentially promising market.” Full Trumpistan.

The Hill adds, “Trump will visit Fresno on June 18 to campaign for Nunes and other local Republican House candidates alongside House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as part of the GOP’s ‘Keep The House’ tour,” which might as well be called “Keep Looting the House,” or держать дом, as it is in the original Russian. The New York Times reports, “The artillery barrage was so intense that the American commandos dived into foxholes for protection, emerging covered in flying dirt and debris to fire back at a column of tanks advancing under the heavy shelling. It was the opening salvo in a nearly four-hour assault in February by around 500 pro-Syrian government forces — including Russian mercenaries”. According to The New York Times, “In the end, 200 to 300 of the attacking fighters were killed. The others retreated under merciless airstrikes from the United States, returning later to retrieve their battlefield dead. None of the Americans at the small outpost in eastern Syria — about 40 by the end of the firefight — were harmed.” The New York Times notes, “The details of the Feb. 7 firefight were gleaned from interviews and documents newly obtained by The New York Times. They provide the Pentagon’s first public on-the-ground accounting of one of the single bloodiest battles the American military has faced in Syria since deploying to fight the Islamic State.” The New York Times adds, “The firefight was described by the Pentagon as an act of self-defense against a unit of pro-Syrian government forces. In interviews, United States military officials said they had watched — with dread — hundreds of approaching rival troops, vehicles and artillery pieces in the week leading up to the attack.” The New York Times notes, “American military officials repeatedly warned about the growing mass of troops. But Russian military officials said they had no control over the fighters assembling near the river — even though American surveillance equipment monitoring radio transmissions had revealed the ground force was speaking in Russian.” The New York Times adds, “‘The Russian high command in Syria assured us it was not their people,’ Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told senators in testimony last month. He said he directed Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, ‘for the force, then, to be annihilated. And it was.’At the center of the battle: “a Conoco gas plant, near the city of Deir al-Zour,” as “American intelligence officials say that the Wagner Group, known by the nickname of the retired Russian officer who leads it, is in Syria to seize oil and gas fields and protect them on behalf of the Assad government. The mercenaries earn of a share of the production proceeds from the oil fields they reclaim”.

We have now cycled through numerous, long drawn out conspiracies Trump and his allies in Congress, most notably DARKNESS AT NUNES, have tried to concoct to justify the treasonous behavior of then candidate Trump in seeking aid and comfort from a foreign adversary to “win” his campaign. The result of that effort was of course a coup and the consequences of it we live with daily and will live with for years and years to come. Meanwhile, we have cycled through several such conspiracies Trump has help concoct and promote which include, in brief, unmasking, wiretaps, and spies – none of which are real, by the way. In fact they are all lies. So it goes The Washington Post notes the end result is “the absurd pattern we’ve fallen into. It goes like this: President Trump makes a ridiculous accusation that almost everyone immediately understands to be false. Then we in the media, because it’s the president, treat that accusation as though it’s something that has to be taken seriously. Then governmental resources are mustered to deal with the accusation. Then Republicans try to twist the mobilization of those resources to give them the answer they’re seeking. But because it’s all based on a lie, they fail once Democrats force some measure of truth to be revealed.” Yet, like pizzagate, a significant portion of the population is willing to believe these things because they support the lunatic who wants to blow up everything without grasping the consequences of how Trump will not just hurt other people, say the darkies who live across town, or the brown folk who want little more than to work hard and raise a family and not be prey to violent gangs or cartels in their home countries. Another portion of the population is either too tired after work or too indifferent to pay more than a passing glance at the news, so some of the bullshit slips through the cracks. The end result is that Trump and his cabal of cronies and conspiracy theorists are getting away with it because the media is failing to grasp what is happening and hold those responsible to account. And as The Washington Post correctly observes, “Worst of all, we’re going to end up doing it again.”  Of course, “These are lies. They’re not ‘unconfirmed,’ they’re not ‘misstatements,’ and they’re not ‘exaggerations.’ They’re lies.” So it goes. Full Trumpistan!

The Washington Post has a piece on how America’s other Aryan princess, the Secretary of the so-called Department of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen finds Trump impossible to work for. She lacks any political clout in Washington beyond her former boss and current White House Chief of Staff John Kelly. However, in the middle of The Washington Post piece, we get a glimpse of the loyal coterie of laughing bigots that surrounds our fake Russian bullshit president: “The night before Trump delivered his first speech to Congress in February 2017, he huddled with senior adviser Jared Kushner and [Stephen] Miller in the Oval Office to talk immigration. The president reluctantly agreed with suggestions that he strike a gentler tone on immigration in the speech. Trump reminded them the crowds loved his rhetoric on immigrants along the campaign trail. Acting as if he were at a rally, he recited a few made-up Hispanic names and described potential crimes they could have committed, such as rape or murder. Then, he said, the crowds would roar when the criminals were thrown out of the country — as they did when he highlighted crimes by illegal immigrants at his rallies”. After the bigoted rant concluded, “Miller and Kushner laughed,” perhaps like the tamed animals they are.

reports, “Type ‘Russia collusion’ into a Google search, and the search engine will try to guess the next word you’ll type. The first of those is ‘delusion.’ Accept the suggestion, and you’ll find yourself in a conservative rabbit hole,” because “conservative” is polite now for “bullshit,” thanks to death cult leader Trump and his effect on that side of the political spectrum. The Washington Post notes, “The first result is a New York Post opinion piece with the headline, ‘Democrats, get set to lose your “collusion” delusions.’ The next result, from the conservative site ‘American Greatness,’ reads ‘Meowing Media Fuel Mass Delusion of Russian Collusion.’ Several other results on the first page — including one from a bodybuilding forum — come from other conservative outlets approvingly quoting an apparent catalyst of the phrase’s popularity: Roger Stone, speaking on Fox News.” The Washington Post adds, “conservative media — along with bad actors and extreme groups looking to amplify their message to the mainstream right — have gotten really, really good at anticipating what their audience will search for and seeding their information to show up, prominently, as a result. The very searches meant to fact-check one’s own beliefs can end up simply enforcing them”. The Washington Post notes, “other search terms, drawn from phrases associated with fringe ideas that have gained increased exposure on platforms such as Fox News, can also direct users to misinformation or extremist communities.”

CNN reports, “At a time when a global wave of authoritarianism is rising, a closer look at the Venezuelan tragedy reveals what was at the center of the power-grab: the dismantlement of the rule of law.” As a federal prosecutor told The Daily Beast just last week, “It accelerates, and you wake up one day and we’re in Venezuela.” So CNN notes, “Maduro is one of the world’s most incompetent presidents. He and his acolytes transformed a country of vast natural resources into one of spreading hunger, exploding murder rates and out-of-control inflation. How did they do it?” Does any of this sound familiar minus the murder rates, which are vaguely under control in Trumpistan at present, despite high profile incidents? It should! CNN notes, “All populist autocrats try to foment divisions, find scapegoats and inflame their backers against their critics. But the path from populist autocracy to full-fledged dictatorship has one indispensable element: taking control of the judiciary and politicizing law enforcement. Once the executive controls the interpretation and enforcement of the law, it can do as it pleases.” Oh hello, Trumpistan and groups like fake NGO Judicial Watch! CNN adds Venezuela is “a case study in how” you transform a country into a full-blown shithole “without the need to impose military rule.” CNN concludes, “one timely lesson from their tragedy is that protecting the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary, is a top priority in the defense against tyranny.”
